Hey, I am looking to get some bigger rear tires, now that my Marauder is boosted. I have 255 45 18 Nitto 555 on the front and 265 50 18 Nitto 555 on the rear. I have a pair of widened wheels that are 10" (not 9.5" like most). I don't want to do any rear suspension mods. So, I am hoping a 295 45 18 should work. But, could I go to a 305 45?

Also, anyone have any experience with the Nitto 555R Drag Radial vs the regular 555G2? How about the NT05 Drag Radial? Is one necessarily that much better than the other? It's interesting that the 555R and the NT05 have like 5/32 tread while the 555 G2 has 11/32 tread....like almost twice as much. That's a lot of burnouts, lol:burnout:

I've ran 295/45R18 555's and they seem to last, I couldn't say how many miles. I installed 305/45R18 NT05R's last year and absolutely love the traction on the street. Yes, you'll be lucky to get more than 5,000 miles a set, but well worth it with the increased traction. Don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't run drag radials on a daily street car. Only down side is they don't last long. They are fine in the rain if you don't drive like a dumba$$. My rims are widened to 9.5" and I used 1/4" spacers for both size tires.

10" will require a spacer.
Hub centric would be my choice.

I was not 100% comfortable with a 1/4" Spacer on the number of turns needed on a stud for a car that is raced. One
Web site said 6 turns.

OEM ~12.5 Turns, W/ .25" Spacer ~7.5 turns.
I purchased Currie Studs and had them machined. I got ~14.5 turns and so far = good.

I run 295's on the widened rears and 245's on the stock width fronts. Both are Hankook tires.

Rear: Hankook Ventus ST RH06

Front Hankook: Ventus S1 Nobel2

Thanks for the info. As soon as I get a chance, I will try just to mount the rim and see how much clearance there is. I'm guessing, with the number of people running 295's on stock rims, the 295 tire should clear. Not sure why the rim wouldn't though....
