View Full Version : Bronze copper wheels

Was hanging with Homero aka ChiTownMaraud3r last week and we were talking about ideas for a new wheel coating on the DTR. Preferably, I like coating the stock wheel over purchasing an aftermarket wheel because I dont want to compromise future plans for big brakes so he played with his photoshopping app to create what the DTR would look like. I'm feeling the gold or copper/bronze look. Whatcha think?

Copper.
Wheels are clear coated, have them painted. You can always change or reverse easily.

Would you also do the other bits of chrome on the car?

Didn't think I would like it but copper looks good on your DTR.

Yeah I’m all about nickel plating myself. Especially on 30’s to 50’s hot rods.

I only have yellow fogs to compliment the coating if I pull the trigger. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200621/55fdb09b4d59ad55f6ddb54a8bbe34 4f.jpg

Personally I like the gold look, but here's the thing i've learned over the years.... if YOU LIKE IT, then do it. If you ask for advice you're going to run into people who will tell you not to do it because they don't like it. It's your car and make it your own and unique. Just don't put Lambo doors on your DTR

Well since you asked....Crap, they look like cheap Crap. Might look better on another model of car or truck.

Tough to say yay or nay since pictures vs seeing it live can be vastly different; I mean, just take Tinder/Instagram for example...
But all joking aside, I agree with Mebot...if YOU like it, do it! I have a SB and I decided to paint my brake calipers "Mustang Grabber Blue" and even found pinstriping that matched that I have running along the groove of the door mouldings and front/rear bumpers. Some people liked it, others not so much. I have pictures of it under my old account/username, IwantmyMMnow!, if you care to look. I did that 6-7 years ago and have been thinking of going with different color for about a year now and pondered how a copper/burnt orange color would look on an SB.

Nope! Moved it to September for easier scheduling and lower costs as it always conflicts with the derby. https://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?108661-2020-Marauder-s-in-the-Ville-Meet

Well post up on here when you are going to be around when you know for sure and then we can try to meet up sometime/where. The Carlisle show has been pushed back to the very end of July/first weekend of Aug, FYI...I'm thinking about going, but that depends on how society is behaving at that point. I'm still in NC, but moved from Asheville to the Charlotte area July last year. Isn't that get together at that seafood restaurant in your old stomping grounds in July/August? Anyways, great to see you posting on here and hopefully we can get together; if you come all the way from left to right, I imagine I can do my part and make the trek from down to up...lol.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ProYeah if i recall correct Plasti-Dip comes in a heck of lot more colors than black, plus they sell gloss cans too for that extra shiny sheen. Maybe try Plasti-Dip first to see if you like it first. If you dont you can simply peel off and wheels are back to ugly chrome
