I brought home the new Mach 1 last night, Damn, it is a sweet ride. I have driven both the 04 Mustang GT, and the 04 Cobra, and for getting looks and value for your money, the Mach 1 is the way to go. It is faster than the GT, and the automatic w/straight axle is the perfect platform for a strip car. Standard Mustang mods are in the near future, Lidios chip, 4:10 rear end, lowering the stance, replacing the exhaust, etc. It is nice having a Mustang again, although the Marauder is feeling left out since the Mach showed up. Scary thing is....I dont miss the Marauder or have any desire to drive it, and with all of the Motor City Marauder stuff coming up!

if the Mach came in a convertible, i would have bought it instead of the MM. and it looks like we have to wait along time for an SVT mustang on the new platform...

I was gonna say it looks like you're living the dream - but now it looks like bye-bye Marauder.

It is one of my favorite cars! I also like the Grabber Blue like color.

Too bad I am 6'1" and 200lbs.

Curious as to why you picked the auto? I saw a stock one w/ 2,500 miles, manual, on a perfect track nite run a 12.88.

Logan,
I just discovered that now when I tried putting the baby seat in back....Damn...tight fit. So I did what anyone else would do, I said ***** it... baby seats dont belong in Mustangs! This is a Daddy only ride. The kids already get their thrill ride in the Marauder every time the light turns green!

Well...of course the first stop for my Mach 1 today was Lidio's shop. With the chip alone this thing pulls really hard. For an automatic to shift crisp and sharp and squawk the tires from first to second is stellar. The difference in this car from yesterday to now is like night and day. He tweaked the shift points, made it shift firmer and harder, turned the fan on earlier, permanently turned off traction control, adjusted the torque converter lockup, played with the overdrive kickdown, etc. Next up....4:10's...

Beautiful ride Dave

Its a gorgeous car indeed. But you'll definitely be sacrificing some exclusiveness. To most folks, the Mach I is "just another Mustang". I think I'd miss the "wtf is that?" response I get so often with the Marauder.

Even so, I'm sure you'll really enjoy it!

I believe there is an intake silencer tube you can remove to free up some additional ponies, too. It's between the air box and fenderwell.

The underdrive pulleys and electric water pump work on it also. Headers and exhaust systems should be plentiful.

Enjoy...

Thanks Mike, I think picking the "Grabber Blue" color that only came on the Mach 1 was a good call. Picking an exclusive color thins the herd, and for the Mach, most Mustang people know what it is. Its reminding me of when I got the Marauder and everyone was gawking at it and asking what it is, just today I have been asked or complemented about 25 times!

And I am enjoying it a lot more after Lidio got his hands on it for an hour!!

Got to love it! I don't know what the fuss is about fitting into a mustang. At 6'2" & 215 lbs, I fit fine in our '03 GT. Pushing a clutch might be another matter though. It's no sofa like the MM, but it isn't meant to be. In hindsight, I wish I had opted for the Mach 1 instead of the GT, but money was tight...you know the story. Anyway, enjoy the new ride and I hope you keep the MM, after some long hauls in the Mach 1, you'll be glad you have it.

What he ^^^^^^ said. Very nice. Fantastic color.
P.S. My Marauder is a Daddy only car ..... except when my son sweettalks me out of the keys.

BEAUTIFUL, MI2QWK4U! I LOVE the Mach I. Dying to get an '04 stick for myself, too! Hopefully, you got it at a steal as well--they're pricing 'em pretty low at a few dealers out here.

Interesting comment. I didn't realize the rear seat area was more accomodating in the GM F-cars versus the Mustang. I've got baby seats in both my GTA and my WS6 and Victor loves it. He's not going to be riding in my '78 anytime soon, due to the lack of rear shoulder belts and no anchor point for the baby seat.

Anyways, congrats on the purchase, Dave.

Picked up a billet fuel door replacement for the Mach at Fun Ford Norwalk. The black satin finish matches the black accents on the car perfectly. Everyone asks if it came on the car stock that way!

Matches other black trim, spoiler, and shaker intake perfectly...

I swear it is good for at least 10 at the rear wheels!

I looked at the black Mach 1, it looked too plain. You cant tell it has the black accent strips, spoiler, and its hard to make out the shaker hood. I like the contrast of the lighter Mach 1 exclusive blue against the black accents.

That black trim was originally on the earlier Machs, 02's i think, and was on both sides of the plate between the tailights. Personally I prefer the body color paint back there, makes it look smoother.
