So the driver's door on my 03 won't lock when I push the lock button on the panel or by the fob and keypad. I have to physically push down the lock lever to get it to lock. It will unlock just fine. All other doors lock fine. Is this an issue with the actuator or is there another culprit?

Usually the actuator.

Is the lock knob hard to operate?
Do you hear the actuator trying to work?

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Unlocks correctly, have to manually lock the driver's door with the key.
I bought a new actuator and haven't had time to put it in yet.

No, the knob is not hard to work at all. The actuator works when unlocking, but not when locking. It doesn't make a sound when you try to lock it electronically.

Keep us posted.
My Marauder does the same at times.
Thanks

Pull the door panel and see if your getting power to the actuator.
Have a spare actuator just in case you need to replace it.
You can usually just pop the old actuator out of the bracket and pop the new one in. If you have to replace the bracket, use a 14-20 stainless steel bolt, washer and nylock nut (nut on the inside).

So if it will unlock using the fob, switch, and key panel, wouldn't that mean that I'm getting power to the actuator and that it's just going bad?

Does it lock when you put it in drive?

No. [emoji16]
But it does lock when I press the brake pedal the first time! [emoji1303]

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ProI always thought it was a 'put it in gear' thing. Now I'll have to test your take on it. Nice day tomorrow so might be a good chance to go for a toot.

Nope. All other doors do. Like I said, it will unlock via power, but it won't lock via power.

Odds are its the actuator, they are known to fail (had to replace both on my 99 F150). Pull the panel, put a test light on the plug and hit unlock. If the TL lights up then the actuator is bad. Simple cheap repair.

Since my wiring was obviously modified anything could be “off”. But I am curious now.. The next time you are in a safe place to do so, could you start it in neutral with no brake and drop it in drive? Just roll on out 10’ or so and touch the brake.
When I start my car I’m in a garage and I don’t use the brake. I just start it up, pop the parking brake, put it in 1st, and roll on out. It’s not till the end of my driveway until I apply the brakes and that’s when mine always lock.
The only negative i can really think of on this swap is having no way for the doors to know when to unlock without the use of the door switch. Not much of a real world issue, more so OCD...
If you could that’d be swell!

Absolutely Bob. How could I say no. ;) Going out for a ride later this morning so I'll follow your directions and report back.

OK Bob... Mission accomplished. I followed your instructions exactly (twice in fact) and got the same result. After starting the car in neutral (doors unlocked, no brake) I dropped it into drive and rolled out 10 ft. then hit the brakes. Boom, the doors locked. You're welcome.
