At the last house I rented, I was able to program my homelink just fine. At this new house, I can't seem to get it programmed. The garage door opener is a Chamberlain. Has the wi fi etc but also have the traditional opener. Does the Homelink not work with the newer models? Or maybe I just need to keep trying to reprogram my car?

My Chamberlain won’t control my car or ‘04 truck but controls the Wife’s Edge.
Difference is our Homelink VS MyQ technology. Kind of like Apple/android, not so much old/new. This is a device that is suppose to bridge the signals but I haven’t tried it.

One of my favorite features is using the Homelink opener on the MM. I also got a hold of that My Q garage opener device and it’s very convenient being able to control the garage door on a mobil app. It makes the Viper SmartStart phone app fun to use and I can watch it all on camera.
Back to the op maybe keep trying and hit the relearn button and follow the directions on the owners guide book closely.

With my new Genie opener I had to match the remote to the Homelink, then go back to the opener, hit the learn button, then hit the Home link button one more time.

Punch in the model of your garage door opener and see if there is a Antenna that you can add to it to make it work. When I was selling review mirrors on eBay the rearview mirror so I had Home link and would not work on certain models and most people ended up having to add a part to the garage door opener to make it compatible kind of like a not so smart smart box to make it work

When I installed new Craftsman opener a few years ago I tried paring with MM opener button.
Would not work at first but after trying the pairing procedure about a dozen times it suddenly took - been working fine for 6? years now.

The thing I worry about is if you leave your car outside and if you forget to lock your car and someone opens a door pushes your Home Link button, your garage door opens. If you use the remote supplied by the garage door opener, you can always remove the opener from your car.

Something I’ll never have to worry about.
