View Full Version : Issue with shutting off/dropping cylinders
When the temperature is hot outside I have an issue where the car wants to drop cylinders and stall out.. it doesn’t really do it on cool evenings or nights at all. But if I’m sitting in traffic it will act up. Any ideas ? It is supercharged.

Sounds like the hell I went thru a few years back. Data log your fuel pressure and see it it goes slowly from 40 to 60 in a condition that would normally make it act up. As soon as it hits 60 mine would nosedive down to 20, 12, 8 stall...
For me it was so hot under the hood I was cooking my fuel. The fuel pump driver would increase pressure to send cooler fuel up to the rails but that added spike would ultimately shut me down where I’d have to sit for 45-60 minutes for all to be normal. I didn’t have a wiring upgrade nor an upgraded driver module but that probably would have addressed it. My temps were extremely high due to really over spinning the old Trilogy set up plus the fact that it was tired and needed a rebuild. I was even warping things like my MAF..
I ended up just going return style with my new blower set up and never an issue since.

That makes so much sense. I’m going to see if I can get some fuel rail jackets or something.

Data log first to confirm. I was at Marauderville Atlanta at the height of my issues. I diligently wrapped my rails with header wrap just to barely get by. Certainly not a fix.

problem persisted. It had bad coils and a bad O2 sensor.
