I parked between a black 300 and CTS at Wally World.

The 300 was nicely appointed and had nice lines from the side / rear. Looks like a small trunk. What were they thinking of when they grafted the Dodge P/U truck front end on to the 300? It literally looks like it was stuck on their by some guy in his driveway on the weekend.

The CTS is small and well proportined if you like the edge look.

I am surprised designers still go for edges when they know our eyes like curves, that's why ladies have curves, as in a Vargas Pinup.

Well, not ALL of us like curves...I liked the old Volvo look (boxy); the "melted jellybean" look does nothing for me...mind you, I'm not saying I like the CTS, I still think it looks like a snowplow  ...as far as the new 300, you're right; it would look a lot better if the grille wasn't so hugely out of proportion...

...and don't even get me started on the Aztek... :puke:

This thread should have been titled "Beauty and the Beasts". The comment on the front grill of the 300C and the "snowplow resemblance" of the CTS is right on the money --- IMHO. However, I think the depth of the 300C trunk should be sufficient to carry a 25 cu ft refrigerator in an upright position.

That's why the CTS is the PERFECT car for a female real estate agent/broker.

Yeah, you can have the 300. I'll pass. And like that Caddy you're talking about here, if you take the wheels off of most cars that are made these days, and paint them pink, they would look like something the Easter Bunny would deliver.

Now the Marauder, that's ofcourse a whole different story.

At the risk of getting flamed like I'm in San Francisco, I like the CTS-V. The Marauder was still my choice though, because you get more car for about $15,000 off the CTS-V's sticker price. But if anyone doubts the CTS-V's abilities, Pratt & Miller (builders of the Corvette C5R's that have absolutely dominated GTS-class racing worldwide, including a 1-2 at LeMans again last weekend - beat the Ferrari 550's and 575's after having accidents in both C5R's (Fellows had 2!)) has built CTS-V's for Cadillac to race in the SPPED World Challenge GT series - at Sebring Andy Pilgrim's car would fire on the grid - he managed to not get run over and started about half a lap down while his teammate Max Angelelli took the lead from pole and never looked back. Pilgrim put on one of the best drives I've ever seen to pass everyone up to second place then throttled back to let Angelelli (long-time factory Cadillac driver from the Prototype days a few years back) take Cadillac's first race win in over 50 years. And won it 1-2! They sat on the pole by over a second! Sweet cars, just not up to the task of being parked in my garage. If I take the $15,000 I saved buying what I think is a better road car, and spend it with our fine vendors, Lord help any poor CTS-V or Z-06 driver I might come across...

Even the Easter Bunny has some level of pride and dignity. He (or she) wouldn't touch some of 'em -- pink or otherwise.

Naw, the easter bunny would be completely fooled since most of the cars today look like a big egg on wheels.

No flames here, I too like the CTS-V. if it was cheaper I might have even bought one. The one I drove was loaded up and the interior was well thought out. They're fast too.
I also wholeheartedly agree with what to do with the $15k I saved.

Why is the 300c have the "C"? How much HP would the 300c have with a supercharger?Answer these simple yet complex questions & you are the top DOGGIE.

Good question about the "c"... way back when, the 300 was introduced as just the 300 (1957? 1955?). With each year starting with the second year, a letter was appended. So there was the 300B, then 300C, etc... at some point in the late 60s, the "letter" cars were the top dogs performance-wise and there was a simultaneous "300" line. Eventually the letter cars disappeared (I think they made a single year comeback in 1970? Also at some point in the late 70s or early 80s?).

If short-term memory serves me correct, the "300" was resurrected as the 300M and stayed as such for a few years now, until this current RWD iteration. Why in heavens did they call it a 300C?

By the way, you rule! ;)

I think the first 300 was introduced in 1955. On the outside, it was basically a Chrysler New Yorker with an Imperial grille and some badging.

Don't remember what was under the hood that made it any different from the New Yorker model.

Automatic gearshift lever was on the dashboard in the 1955 Chrysler cars. Then they went to pushbuttons on the upper left in 56 or 57.

Don't know if this was caused by the torsion bar suspension in 57, but you could put the car in gear, give it gas while holding down on the brake, and the whole car would seem to lift.

I think it was a hotted up Hemi, 331 cu.in? I think they came up with the name based on the rated horsepower, which was 300 if I remember correctly.

That sounds correct. They claimed 300 HP
