I finally broke down and have started tackling the job of replacing the carpet in the Marauder now that it's back from Mo's. I removed the seats, center console and carpet and discovered some mold in the front of the passenger footwell. The thick lining against the firewall was soaked. There was also a sheet of paper left over from the factory build of the car that was black with mold.

I didn't notice an inordinate amount of rust, so I don't think it's been wet for a long time. I did run it through a robo wash not long after getting it back, so I'm wondering if the high pressure water found a way in. I've done the old school method of shining a high intensity flashlight all around the firewall looking for light making it through but I can't see any.

Are there common areas where these are known to leak? The firewall grommet that I used to use for emergency light installs in CVs seems in place and sealed.

Theres is a condensate drain that has been known to clog and cause water to leak back into the interior. If I recall correctly it is accessed by removing part of the RF wheel well plastic liner. You can then see where the drain extends through the firewall. I removed the RF wheel when I had to do this some years ago.

So you're saying this is a drain and NOT the mouse nest option? 😂

Thanks so much!

Check the hood release cable grommet, mine cracked and became a funnel.

Will do! The drain mentioned earlier literally had a rats nest in it lol, but with everything out of the interior I'll check / seal everything I can!

If it's anything like the Towncars this fix has helped many of us with front passenger leaks.
