Replacement Axle

Happy 2021, MM.net!!

So, it turns out that I need an axle replacement. Any suggestions on a brand? Any manufacturers to stay away from?

If anyone has a spare for sale within ~50 miles of 08077, I might be able to make that happen.

I bought NAPA axles when I had my rear end rebuilt last summer.

Napa axles = Cardone Industries @ $162.99
Amazon = Dorman @ $98.71 shipped

I’ve had good luck with both as far as other parts go but a simple axle shouldn’t have that much profit added on when you know the price point is identical hence why I rarely give Napa my business. Actually I try my best to plan ahead and order online pretty much everything anymore.. These retail shops have bent us over for too many decades.

the dormans are not manufactured as nice as the OE axles, I mean if you need "an axle", it'll be "an axle".

I'd either find a good used OE or step up to 31's. I've done both.

I definitely don't trust dorman for electrical products and I don't know if I'd trust an axle shaft from them. Might be interesting for a comparison/ torture test. Run one dorman and one OE or other replacement and launch the car x amount of times.

Ford Racing axles, diff, and girdle, Yukon gears, solid spacer, and cap studs. Nothing too fancy but has held up perfect on the street. I’m pretty sure I’d implode the hole thing with stickies so we’re not going there anytime soon.. [emoji6]

If I could stomach shoveling any more money into this taxi cab then this would be a nice way to blow $4-5 large by the time it’s install ready..

Thanks for the responses, everyone! Mechanic installed a Dorman axle. I don't punish the car so should be good.
