View Full Version : What is this blank cluster light spot used for?

I was swapping out a bulb on my gauge cluster and noticed there is one blank spot where a light could go, between the high beam and the o/d light. It connects to pin 7 in that harness.
Just curious as to which model of panther uses this and what would it be for?

I havent been in my cluster in a long time so take this with a grain of salt, but maybe a T/C spot for the mercs with T/C do you not have T/C?

Oddly, every marauder with or without T/C comes with a blub for T/C in the gauge cluster. (and the wiring for T/C as well...)

Maybe a special indicator for police? What's R/T?

Right Turn signal.

Hum, maybe I can find a wiring diagram for the PI...

I thought about right turn, but thought that was to obvious. Take it somewhere there is a L/T on the board?

Apologies for the vague info. There are actually 2 connectors that plug into the cluster. The other connector's #7 is the T/C lamp, as mentioned. This is the connector on the opposite side of that.
Yeah, the other side of the center white part has the Left turn signal. The center white thing is the odometer controls.
I tried shining a light through it but couldn't see anything.
From checking the same year grand marquis I think that might the idiot light for the oil pressure. I wonder if it is still hooked up...humm....

The spot for the FSS light was in a different position (it is on the lower right http://i.imgur.com/6yGz6.jpg ) and the FSS wasn't an option until 2005 according to this http://pontiacperformance.net/TechArticles/media/CV_FireSuppressionSystem.pdf

Without having a grand marq or crown vic cluster in hand I'd say thats most likely it. I checked on my spare 04 Marauder cluster and I'm honestly surprised there isn't anything there, even something to shine a light on and see what its supposed to be. Its just black plastic when you take the cluster apart.

It should have been the spot for cruise control activated green light

Agreed it is silly not having a cruise active light

Happen to have a picture of the back of the black plastic part? I'm too scared to take apart the cluster haha.

While on the subject of the cluster, just to the right of the Air Bag light is a picture of a thermometer.
The user's manual states that it illuminates if the temperature is high, but I thought way way back someone on this site claimed there is no bulb in the socket.
Can you verify?

I just replaced all the bulbs with leds. All sockets have a bulb in them.
