View Full Version : ProCharger Belt
I wish it was a way to keep this belt from slipping and shredding; it sure ruins a good day.

There is. Upgrade to an F1 head unit and use what I use. ZERO slip.

Of course with that you’ll need to relocate the custom radiator you’ll need to a lower and raked position and also move the 98-02 Grand Marquis A/C condenser you’ll need forward about an 1 1/2”.
Oh yeah, you’ll also need an ATI balancer to bolt the lower pulley to. This isn’t a cheap solution obviously, but a proven solution plus all the new found power you’ll achieve and no embarrassment of shredding belts! I took it even another step and used V band clamps for everything so I never will have embarrassing blow offs! Every pipe is V band clamped, even the head unit and the intercooler. Hell I even installed a brace to the throttle body ti eliminate any possible issues with the only rubber band in the system and then welded the engine mounts or you’d end up cracking pipes. Unbelievably you can’t tell though, she still idles smooth which sucks. I was hoping for more of an old hot rod feel at the stop lights. I miss my cams I used to have.. [emoji17]
The problem is the unit flexing in the mount that you use. You almost have to shim it in a way that is a happy medium between normal running and WOT.
The cog kit I use is bolted to both heads with a 3/4” billet bridge. It is literally impossible for it to twist. Add to that the cog pulleys and they simply won’t allow slippage even if it were to loosen up. I didn’t quite tighten mine down enough once and only noticed when I saw the 2” wide belt flopping around LOL It still didn’t slip though!
We really should meet up someday.

What size pulley are you running? 6 or 8 rib?

Aren't you running a 6 rib with -0- belt slip? How many psi are you at?
OP. If you plan on staying 6 rib and at low boost (up to 11psi) PM Jerry and ask if he makes the standoff for adding an idler pulley. You will need to have the lip on the water pump pulley machined off.
Personally I would do an 8 rib swap on any centri SC and be done with belt slip.

Sounds like his belt alignment is tweaked.

Greenback fleet runner? Gates RPM. They're made for centrifugal S/C. No stretch, but you have to have the tensioner in the middle of it's travel or the belt can snap.

I would agree!
