I swapped in an Audiophile unit a year or two ago, and it's been great. However, the car sat for awhile, for various reasons that include the battery failing and taking forever to be able to replace (because I couldn't get it out), and then when I started driving it again it kept giving error about the disc changer. It won't recognize the discs that are loaded in, so I can neither play nor eject them. Anyone know a way to resolve this without needing to replace/disassemble the head unit? Hopefully?

When I received mine many years back it did the same. I learned that if there is any deformity to the metal on top, directly center, and immediately behind the plastic face you’ll get all kinds of errors and loading/unloading issues. (A common place for finger tips when carrying or installing it) It’s a very sensitive area and almost prefers to be slightly dented outward for peak performance.

The outer cage from what I remember comes off easily. I took mine all apart and simply put it back together to find nothing broke except the fact it worked now.. I happened to notice that it quit again after re installing it and that’s how I found it.

That's good to know. Thank you. It's especially helpful that it's easy to install/uninstall the Audiophile head Unit. I'll take a look at that as soon as I have a moment.

You have a 6 disc audiophile head unit and also using the trunk mounted 6 disc?

No, the trunk mounted changer doesn't work with the Audiophile unit with the internal changer.

Turns out that one of the discs got stuck. Carefully slid it back away from the front of the unit and now it behaves normally again.
