I would like to ask everyone's advice. About a year ago, my MM started overheating. I immediately pulled over and opened the hood and the coolant reservoir was overflowing. I am older and can no longer do the work myself like I used to. I took it to the Ford dealer and they diagnosed a new thermostat was necessary. They replaced the thermostat and burped the system. No overheating for about a year. Two weeks ago, the car started overheating again. I opened the hood and there was coolant on top of the reservoir. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed a new thermostat was again necessary. They said that the lower coolant hose was cold and that indicated that the thermostat was not functioning properly. They replaced the thermostat and burped the system as usual. Today, the car overheated. The coolant reservoir was overflowing. I felt the lower coolant hose and it was cold compared to the other hoses. I am going to the dealer tomorrow morning. Does this sound like anything other than the thermostat? Did I just have a bad thermostat or an inexperienced mechanic two weeks ago? Thank you in advance.
