View Full Version : Need a Part Number for the Hood Light Socket

The 2003 300A's came with an underhood light that lit up when you opened the hood. Does anyone know the part number for the socket? The bulb is fine and the wiring is fine, but the constant heat had caused the socket (into which the connector plugs) to fail, and I want to get a replacement.

Thanks in advance.

I work in Ford parts and could probably get you that number on Monday. This was likely used on many vehicles and I will look and see if it's available or obsolete. From experience, I am leaning toward the latter.

Thank to both of you! I knew someone here would know (and has probably already replaced it).

Bad Merc: Please let me know if you can get it through Ford and the cost. The Tasca part is about ninety bucks, shipped. If I can beat that I'll order the Ford part (from you or my friendly local Ford store - doesn't matter much to me. I can be patient).

If it's the same part for GM's and such might be able to pick up a few at your local junkyard.

I have bought things from Tasca and was very happy with them. But also a lot of parts show on Tasca but then I order them and I get that dreaded order "cancelled, obsolete" etc. email. Just sayin.

Thinking I'll order one, too. Mine has been funky for years, didn't always work.

Thanks, guys. New one in hand for less than forty bucks (joys of an "elderly" car). It goes in this weekend. Even came with a new bulb (although I'll probably be looking around for an LED for that socket). I wonder if this thing was made of a different kind of plastic, considering it goes through hot-cold-hot-cold throughout the car's life, and that has to age the plastic.

I can get you an LED bulb that is brighter and creates almost no heat. You can have the bulb lit for hours and still grab it with your hand.

Thanks for the offer - I actually got two at Amazon. One's in the hood, and I'm looking for a place for the other one (CHMSL?).
