Hey Guys,
For the benefit of others who may have this issue - with many thanks to MustangEddie for the tip:
During rebuild of my 03, I removed the instrument cluster and replaced all the bulbs.
I must have mishandled the gauge cluster while doing so as the speedometer wasnt working right when everything was put back together, and the car was able to be driven.
The speedo would jump it's way up and down during speeding up and slowing down. Not erratic back and forth, but like it was getting stuck when trying to move up or down.
Eddie suggested getting the plastic cover off the cluster and GENTLY pulling up on the plastic circular/needle piece that is the speed indicator. I used a small screwdriver (I suggest a small plastic wedge in retrospect) and gently pried the circular plastic away from the cluster surface, in about 5 spots around the perimeter. That fixed it.
I love it when a fix works on the 1st try.

Blazen, thanks for asking.. here was the latest. It's running good. Already trying to get more boost :-)

Hey Guys,
Well, after ~ 2yrs of learning & effort, the 03 MM is up and running. Rebuilt engine, rebuilt tranny, suspension, headers, cat back exhaust, brakes, etc, etc.
It is running good mostly. Almost done tuning with Marty and Jeff...we had to schedule one last session next week due to some minor problems with the SC air pipes (uh... one fell off under boost). I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me along the way, in particular JustBob and Blazen. JB and Blazen were about as patient and helpful as they possible could have been. Also, Chris at ADTR was all in from the start till the finish, helping me through the install and other issues. If anyone is considering doing business with Chris, please accept my 100% and unconditional recommendation. Marty and Jeff at the speed shop have also been very very very patient and helpful. They seem to me to be THE experts.

I'm glad to help. I was once in the same position as you, learning as I go. I'm glad to see your project finally coming to fruition, as I'm sure you are too!
