Hello all. I recently joined to learn more about my 03 Marauder. I didn't think I would need help so soon. The story: When my father passed away 12 years ago I inherited his 64 thousand mile Merc. I drove it to my home and parked it in a heated garage. Time flies and now I am ready to drive it. The gas was old so before starting, I removed tank and replaced fuel pump. Gas was slightly yellow but still smelled ok. Used the 10 gallons in lawn mower. New fuel filter and pressure check showed about 60psi. Cranks strong but not a hint of firing. I have some mechanical ability but these Fords are all Greek to me. I am thinking a spark problem or the injectors not getting signal? No codes present. Thank you for any input.

update: she started on a shot of starting fluid and ran for a few seconds, so it is a fuel problem.

Does the fuel pump prime (it's audible) when you turn key to "on" but not crank. I would change fuel filter too with 12 year old gas..prolly gummed up inside

Check the inertia crash reset button to see if it got tripped somehow.

The inertia switch is in the trunk on the drivers side in case you were not aware. Check that... then fuel pump relay and fuse.

With sitting that long, could very well be the relay. Tap on it or swap with another like horn or something after confirming it is working.

Also... anybody think the FPDM? I don't know how often those become an issue.

Could be, anything is possible especially with electronics. But given it worked when 1st parked, it wouldn't be on my list of 1st things to check.

I have a new filter installed. Fuel pressure was close to 60 at the schrader valve left front of fuel rail.

Fuel pump can be heard when key is turned on so power is there. I was thinking noid lights on an injector or is there another way to test for power there? I can't believe all 8 injectors are plugged. I have a ford manual which seems useless. I will try to find what fuel pressure is supposed to be.

Here are the pressure specs. from Chiltons.
So it looks like your pressure is good. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220609/8d07c9680d71496c30bb5255caaaab 0d.jpg

I'd say trace the injector harness, make sure a rodent didn't chew into it.

Sounds like the fuel pump might be bad. (yes, the new one)

It wouldn't be the first time a new part failed.

You could un-plug the FPDM (Fuel Pump Driver Module) cycle the key a few times then plug it back in and see if it fires. The FRDM is in the trunk on the drivers side. You'll need to pull back the trunk liner to gain access to it. If it's bad, any Crown Vic or Grand Marquis FPDM will work. $15 - $25 at a salvage yard.

Sounds like no injectors are firing. First check all fuses. If all are good then start it a couple of more times on starting fluid and see if it trips a crank sensor, cam sensor, or MAF code. All three can shut off the injectors.

If you unplug an injector lead and hook a volt meter up to the two terminals and crank are you getting anything ?

I will try that today. Thank you. I do have 12 volts at plug with key on. I actually have power AND ground with key on at the plug.

The fpdm is not tripped. I hear the fuel pump and gauge goes to 60 psi. does this switch kill electricity or mechanical block of fuel? The picture I found of the module looks like it is an electric cut off.

The fuel pump inertia switch in the trunk cuts the electricity to the pump.

I am not sure but i think the injector has power and the computer pulses the ground. If you have pulsing power or ground and fuel to the injector, may seem unlikely but sound like all 8 are stuck. if you pull injectors is there a place around that can clean and test?

Where is the fuel return line for this car? I was thinking to pinch it off to see if she might start. I see the fuel rail and supply line. Is the return in the rear between the heads? I would like to get an aftermarket manual for this car but none available. Would a Grand Marquis or Mustang manual help with some of my questions?

I don’t believe the car has a return fuel line.

Marauders use a returnless system.

Correct. It pulses the ground.

I would suggest even if the FPDM is fine get one and keep it in the glove box. If it goes it will do so w/o warning.

Also a FRPS. Keep both in glovebox/trunk.

I see you have an SS as well. When I bought mine, my father wanted one too but they stopped production. I recommended the Marauder and he bought one. I still have 2 Impalas and still love them but dad's car was willed to me and now i am going to give Ford a chance.

I had this same issue before, injectors getting stuck after sitting for a long time. Glad you found the issue
