Where to Go?

So here I am in Waikiki and I am trying to find some car goodies. Especially some Hawaii 5-0 stuff with the Marauder in it. Any suggestions? My ship is in Pearl Harbour on Ford Island North and I have some limited transportation available. Also, any other cool places to go away from the tourist traps. I'll be here until July 6.

Don't bother with the Polynesiam Village, IMHO.

Do walk up DiamondHead

I had no idea that DHead was a crater, not a mountain, and that you could drive through a tunnel into the center of the crater, park, and follow a hiking trail up to the top.

One spot, you have to walk from "inside" the crater to the "outside" through a long, dark tunnel. Make sure you take the flashlight they offer you down at the start.

You also get to crawl out what was once an observation or gun emplacement site (it's been eight years since I was there) to gain access to the outer rim.

Too bad you don't have extra time, because the helicoptor ride over the active volcano on the "big island" of Hawaii is stunning.

My wife is a white knuckle flier, but she said that we will go back to Hawaii one day.

Geez, I have some memories of that place... I was stationed in Pearl for 3 1/2 years and went to Aux pac, diesel, O2 Gen and a couple of pump schools there. I liked the little bar ;)
I hear that Pearl no longer has a strip club on base anymore though... and no more beer machines.
Ahhh, for the good old days!
