Greetings, I inked the deal on a 04 Marauder in DTR with all the toys today. I spent alot of time reading the posts here prior to making my decision. Thanks for all the great info posted here. Too bad for the Dodge boys that they are not dealing on the Magnum. My Marauder will be unique in this area of upstate NY. Theres only one other in the county and thats black. The Magnums will be plentiful by this time next year. Does anyone have the rear deck spoiler on their Marauder? I was wondering if its for looks only or actually functional? Thanks! RJ

Welcome...officially!
I just ordered a OEM spoiler...hasn't arrived yet.
From the looks of it it appears at least partially functional.
Either way...looks great.

Welcome man!!! And congrats on your aquisition.
I was a Magnum fan as well, but the MM was available and it turned out to be the unique choice.
As far as spoilers, they are strickly for bling in our case, it's YOU'RE preference.
Do a search on this site for spoilers and you will see the two basic choices. Pics of mine (aftermarket) are in the link below...'my wtfisit garage'.

Congrats on your purchase!!!! As for the Dodge Magnum; what do you need a station wagon for anyway. The Old Country Squires have been all but vanished. You will grow to love your Marauder each and every day. Hell, I've had mine since November and still can't wipe the smile of my face. And as for the spolier, do it. Mine is being painted tommorrow, and will be installed on Monday. I think it adds to the proflie of the car. But make up your own mind, cause there are tons of pics on this site, and a bunch of nice people to go with them. Just ask and you shall receive. This site holds so much info on our cars, it's just plain crazy. Congrats again, and enjoy your new toy.

Welcome, rayjay...(your last name's not Johnson, is it?)
Dodge isn't dealing (yet) because the Magnum is too new...when we bought our MM, there were essentially NO deals or rebates...6 months later, there were $3500 rebates and 0% financing for 60 months (we got 36)...if the Magnum sales figures turn out as low as the MMs were, there'll be beaucoup deals next spring...
BTW, I have a friend who's worked for D-C in St Louis for many years, and HE won't even buy one...

I got the spoiler and love it. I am sure theoretically it effects the aerodynamics of the car one way or the other but as has been said its for bling that you get it.
I've read stories about how the SuperBird was faster with Duct-tape on it after a crash than before. They also said it was more aerodynamic in the windtunnel facing backwards, maybe urban myth but this was an artcle that quoted a NASCAR driver

Congratulations on an excellent decision. Let the fun begin. I have the rear spoiler and I'm certain it does little but look good and make the trunk a little heavier!

Thanks for the welcome all. I may wait awhile on the spoiler. I am coming out of a ZX3 that was quite modified. The subdued spoiler I put on the rear hatch actually caused the car to get a little unstable above 110. Not good for a car that would do mid 120's. I hate to think what some of the "gowa sized" spoilers do  . Anyway, I think I'll kick back, read here, and enjoy the MM for awhile before I start modding. :D Oh, and you guys are close on the name, a variation from the job thats not fit to print here

Early 2003 300A MMs had a full size spare tire, locking fuel door, front seat cushion map pockets, a stand alone clock, an automatic e- brake release, underhood light, and rear speaker grilles in the package tray. All of these were deleted in favor of Traction Control. However some early 300Bs kept everthing but the full size spare.
Just my .02 and then some.

this is a 300b, with the same things as a 300a?

Welcome, Rayjay. I'm going to be visiting NY (Plattsville area, wherever that is) on business in late September. Are you close to there?

If you have the stuff that is mentioned, including the full size spare, then you have a 300A. I could tell by the VIN, PM it to me if you like.

Ross,
Plattsburg is way upstate north of Albany. Only about 30 miles from the Canadian border just off I-81 (or is it I-83?). Sits right on Lake Champlain. Used to be the home of Plattsburg Air Force Base. Now, I think it has been converted to a retirement community. Visited there in August 1974 when my Brother-in-Law was assigned there. Wow!!! 30 years ........ Gees !!!

Are you close to there? No, not heard of Plattsville, if it is Plattsburg you mean, its a good 4 hrs from me. Thats where my car is now coming from. My dealer received my car and rejected it. Said they would not sell it to me due to paint defects. I'm not real happy right now :fire: .

I am very sorry to hear that after all this time, Marauders are arriving with paint defects. Mine is currently being repainted over about 3/4 of its surface due to numerous paint defects.
There is simply no excuse for this sloppy painting. CUAW should be ashamed of themselves, but, of course, they won't be because they don't care about their customers.
You will find many 2004 MM's available at dealerships at this time and they can probably find you one with the color and options you desire, if you hurry.
Find the one you want and go over it completely looking at it in bright sunshine from several angles. Check the door sills and the seams carefully. You can still see a shine over thin paint due to the clearcoat!
Best Regards,
David
Yeah, I think Plattsburg may be right after all. What do I know? I thought there was permafrost that far north. :shake:

Best Regards,
DavidDavid, thats very interesting about the paint. The dealer that sold the car to my dealer stated that was the way he received it from FOMOCO. The salesman said it looked like it had been eaten into by acid rain, bird droppings and tree sap. He said the paint was very thin in spots. Well, at least NYE Ford was honest enough not try and pass it off on me. He located two other DTR MMs, one in Buffalo and the one I'm getting in Plattsburg. The only hitch is I now have to pay for the 6 disc cd changer that I didn't want or need. -and- to top off my day I accidentally broke the mirrored door to medicine cabinet in my bathroom :fire: -and- I have to go back to work in 45 minutes...
