Noticing how there are 2 cats each side, any gain from hollowing out the 2nd set after the O2 sensor? Thinking of dropping them and using a long prybar and hammer to break it up and shake out. just trying to put off headers now for a little while!

You don't gain that much from hollowing out the converters.
You will gain NOISE since they do act like mufflers a bit.

Another issue is the HEGO sensors...the A/F is controlled by the front ones, the back 2 just monitor cat efficiency (so I'm told)...if you remove or hollow out the rear cats, you'll have to either shut off the rear sensors in the PCM software, or install MIL eliminators to keep from getting a CEL...

Don't do it!!

I did it on a 1992 5.0 Mustang that I had ordered a Hi-Flow X-pipe for and you wouldn't believe how a hollow cat rings!!! :fire: When you get on the throttle it will ring like someone rattling rocks in a metal bucket.....SOUNDS LIKE CRAP!! :fire:

Story is that removing the cats completely won't give you but a couple HP but I'd guess the sound would be different.....Louder and deeper??

My $.02... ;)
