Every now an then, and with no warning or frequency, I am getting a strange short Groaning sound from under the hood lasting under 5 seconds. The car is always moving when it happens. From the driver's seat it sounds like it is from the passenger side under the hood. I cannot duplicate it to save my soul. It does not sound like suspension. it almost sounds like something losing air. It's a groan and a vibration. Anyone heard of something like this?

It may be coming from the Air Suspension compressor/valve behind the driver's side headlight.
BTW: I also make a 'weird groaning sound for 5 seconds.....every time that I try to get out of bed in the morning.

Good Question! I will have that checked. It does seem to cycle A LOT!

Cycling on /off = low on charge most likely, I had to replace my accumulator (famous for rusting out on these cars) $33 recharge 30 oz R134a now blows ice cold. Get a shop to remove your remaining charge first.

If you need to replace that A/C coffee can thing, see if you can locate one made of aluminum. Ford will sell you a steel one which over time will rust out again. I believe Napa or one of the other FLAPs sell an aluminum one. Check RockAuto too.

Mine does it when I start the car with the ac on. Try turning off ac and see if it still does it. I bought a new vacuum door thing not the actuator this is silver and has vacuum tubes and goes on the ac unit under the dash haven’t tried to install yet
