Hey guys,

I like to drag race my Marauder a few times a year,

So I’m not really interested in changing a lot on the car to make it less street able.

That being said, I’m having trouble getting my car to hook at the track.

I’ve got 2003 Marauder with a Trilogy on a stock block, SW headers and exhaust , PTC 2800-3000 convertor and 4.10 gear . Rear tires are Nitto NT 555 G2, 295/45/18 . Even aired down, I’ve got to leave really easy to avoid wheel spin.

I know MT Drag radials are worth 1/2 second or more, But what about gearing? Is the 3.55 less prone to wheel spin and hook better than the 4.10?

Would adding a Detroit locker unit help it hook, compared to the OE limited slip unit I have now?

Any downsides to using a Detroit locker on the street?

Any other ideas to consider? Thanks in advance!

Both the 3.55 Gears and Eaton Detroit True Trac should help some with wheel spin, however Drag Radials are the answer unfortunately. With your current set-up just adjust the air pressure down, and maybe adjust your front/rear Ride-Tech Shocks for a better weight transfer to see if it can help some.

With a roots blower and high stall convertor you have to drag radials or slicks. Detroit lockers suck on the street. After turning at an intersection when the locker re-engages it'll jerk your whole car. If you're spinning both wheels with your trutrac then it's good enough. You can try softening you ridetech settings but unfortunately they are only single adjustable, meaning the compression and rebound are the same. True drag racing shocks will either have two adjustment knobs or be valved for different comp/rebound ratios.

Drag Slicks and Drag Racing School. Wheelspin is not good for 60 ft times.

Can I run a 305/45-18 on a 10” wheel with a 1/4 spacer?

I run mine on 10" Shelby wheels with no spacer.

I run 305/45R18 on 9.5" widened Marauder wheels with a 1/4" spacer. No rub. I did grind down the faces of the shock towers to be safe.
