Pinging

A couple of months ago I purchased an 04 Marauder with 71k miles on it. Ever since I’ve owned it, it has run weird at times. I cleaned the MAF. Installed a new fuel filter. Installed new plugs as recommended on this forum, correctly gapped, anti-seized and torqued properly. Replaced the coils as well as the coil connectors (without cutting the wires). And now installed the super duper Marty Tune. I have always run 93 octane, it’s been Sunoco for the last 3 tanks. It still pings (mostly going up hill under mild load). I just don’t get it. Oh, and my gas mileage has NEVER been more than 10.5 gallons. The only mod is a K&N filter kit… please help!

What about temp/thermostat? I plugged in the SCT to monitor and noticed the temp hovers around 198?

Which tensioner?

belt tensioner... i've twice had a bad tensioner on my marauders that sound like a pinging/broken valve spring. once it was the accessory tensioner, the other time it was the S/C tensioner.
