Engine cuts off 5k rpm in 2nd gear?

Has anybody encountered an intermittant issue with entering highway WOT manually shifting upward and about 5,000 rpm in 2nd gear starts cutting out and rpm will hold at 5k? Has happened about 4 times now in 2 months. No mods, strictly stock.

I guess that's a no... sounds goofy.

Do the rpms bounce rapidly at 5,000 rpm when it does it or does it just hold flat? What do you mean by 2nd gear starts to cut out? Do you have to let off to shift to 3rd to get it going? Been to the dealer about it?

Too many questions. Here's a suggestion: Get an 9100 SCT from DR and get rid of that silly stock program. You'll never go back unless its for a service visit.

When my car was new it died on the highway twice. each time i had to be towed. Another time it would not start in the morning. my wife had driven it last & thought that the car might be out of gas. after adding a gallon it started up. i don't now if it was out of gas or just computer glitch. ford service said that it was a computer problem & that the car's computer was thinking it was out of gas. i don't believe that answer but it's what they told me. however since then if the car ever stalls it starts right up unlike when i had to be towed. since moding the car i have stalled a few times but the car started up each time after. i didn't notice a consistant rpm level when this occured.

i have never owned a car that had stalling issues until this one. i have not been overly concerned since they corrected the problem of it not starting at all. i only worry when my wife takes it. i don't want her to get stuck with kids.

i hope this helps you a little and i know how pissed off i was having to be towed off the highway. since your car is stock i would :censor: & moan till you got an answerand the problem was corrected. :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:

Sounds like a rev limiter.

Just did a series of run-up to check my '03 300b---slow acceleration locked in 2nd---right up to 5500--no problems---WOT to 5500, no problems--in fact , very consistant acceleration both ways--I do have a DR "flash"--could be the difference, Maury :lol:
