MM build numbers

I recently heard from someone that the 1st 500 MM were titled as GMs on the title. Has anyone else heard this can this be verified?

I'd never heard this. I heard back in the day some insurance companies got mixed up and called them grand marqs but even that I'm not 100% sure is true.

2003 Marauders and 2003 Grand Marquis' were both "M75" which signified grand marq by the vin, that is where a lot of the confusion came from. You had to look at the engine code in the vin, V for 4V, W for 2V, to tell them apart by the vin #.

This^^^:up: Someone who was supposed to get the 2003 Marauder paperwork to the gov't didn't, so the 2003 Marauder was an option package in a sense for GM. 2004 the paperwork was submitted on time, and the Mercury Marauder was a standalone model.

State Farm insured mine as a GM for the first couple of months once the VIN was straightened out. They had to contact Ford to get it all worked out on their end.

When I called my StateFarm agent on June 26, 2002; she told me exactly what I had by the VIN.
