Flashing CEL

I have a small delima, have a 2004 MM with 65,000 miles it's a rebuilt titled vehicle.

Today I replaced the ground battery terminal, started the car to let idle, and after 2 minutes it shuts off.

On restart, it took longer for it to catch, like an extra 30 seconds and after it starts it's a low idle and shuts off again. I noticed the check engine light (CEL) flash quickly and now it doesn't start at all. I went back to it and used the 2nd key and started it and it idled again for about 2 minutes and turned off. I was able to restart and almost immediate it turned off again.

Any assistance would be helpful and no I have not pulled the codes, I will be borrowing one of those this afternoon after work. thanks

Flashing CEL means shut off engine immediately so you don't ruin the cats. You prob have a misfire.

When you say ruin the cats, meaning it's dumping too much fuel?

Get a code reader, it will give you a better idea on where to start looking.

Agreed, the buck stops with that, I borrowed one today and I'll try to take a look tomorrow, depending on my work schedule...
