Mod, sorry, could you please move this to "Interior Electrical / Electronics?" Thanks!

While I'm here, a couple of things: Jim repaired my LCM, and all normal lighting functions are fine. BUT, a couple of things within a year; when I hit the door unlock on the key fob, the interior light doesn't come on automatically (comes on when I open the door), then one of the underbody lights wouldn't come on, then both underbody lights are out. I don't think it's the LCM which works great otherwise, but the old alarm. (Viper/Clifford, which I can't find anyone to work on.) The alarm subfunctions are fine, remote start, fuel door open, etc., but the actual alarm and tilt sensor are not working, so I think i's all related.

But, one question, and the original Marauder Concepts people who sold the Underbody lighting kit are gone: I want to check the obvious and see if the bulbs in the UL kit are still good to pin it on the alarm, but can't see how to access them?! Anybody know how to get into the UL kit sealed modules? The install notes make no mention of how to replace them, and they can't be considered lifetime bulbs I'm sure. Thanks for any info!

To test that the under body light(s) are getting power, unplug one of the light connectors and see if it is getting power using a test light.

I doubt the installer of the alarm system used the under body lights to trigger the alarm. Most likely used some other wiring under the dash.

Get under the vehicle and trace the wires from the under body lights. I bet they go through a rubber plug in the floor pan and are spliced into an interior light. Check for a splice near the footwell light(s).

Thanks, but there is no connector to the lights that I can see, or any way to service the bulbs. They are sealed units. I installed the lights, drilling and tapping the frame, then ran the power cords as you say through the floor pan with a grommet and under the carpet, then up to the foot well and then handed it off to my tech who did the rest.

First time I knew something was wrong one of the lights stopped coming on, then the other, then intermittent in wet weather, then both out permanently now. At about the same time or shortly after the Viper alarm stopped working, and the key fob would unlock the car but the interior light wouldn’t come on till I opened the door. I know the interior light and both UB lights are supposed to come on when you hit unlock, and assumed they were tied into the same circuit the alarm uses. He doesn’t use the lights for the alarm, but they were wired to come on with the interior light.

I'll trace the light connection back to the footwell, but simplest things being the most likely, I wanted to check the actual UB light bulbs first because they can't last forever. Appreciate the info thanks.

IIRC... those bulb assemblies are sealed. There should be a flat connector for each bulb assembly. You should be able to disconnect it and test for power.

Good deal, I'll get under there and unbolt one and look for that, thanks.
