So my trunk mounted CD changer started giving me the CD DJ error many years ago. Tried cleaning the heads but doesn't help. Did buy a remanufactured CD changer and finally getting around to installing the unit. Got one side screws out but what is the best approach on getting the screws with spacers out on the other side closest to the tail light? There isn't much room there to get in there.

Perhaps the bracket on the tail light side needs to be removed? I haven't looked under the carpet but I'm hoping that it maybe bolts to the trunk and can be removed.

I was able to figure it out. It's easiest is to pull back as much carpet as you can and remove the brackets on both sides. However, it appears that the refurbished cd changer that I got from Factory Radio is not exactly the same as the original. My CD DJ doesn't work with this one. Unfortunately, I purchased this refurbished a long time ago so too late to return it. It might work with a different CD DJ that is specific to that unit perhaps but it didn't come with one.
