My black is eating batteries when not being driven. It never did before. Used to be able to jump in 4 months later and it would start on first turn… now three weeks later on new battery it is completely DEAD. LOOKING FOR ADVICE and checklist of items to check. As I had hood up to Trickle Charge, I removed bulb from under hood. Otherwise, car hasn’t been touched mechanically. Thanks in advance!

I use these to find amp draws, you could get really creative using them with test leads like in between the battery and battery cable.... They make different sizes for different fuses or a master kit for about $75.00

Thank you so much! Any other ideas? Could a missing bulb cause a slow drain?

Do you leave it on the battery tender full time? I put a towel on the hood latch and close hood on top of it so it doesn't pinch the cord. Never an issue. Mine is on a tender whenever not being used.

You may have just got a crap new battery. Quality isn't what it used to be anymore.

I took the bulb out of the hood light, because the hood was open for shows… could the missing bulb cause the drain? PS yes now it is on a tender… but it never used to need one :)

My car won't last 3 weeks or so if not on tender. Never has. My battery is 7 years old now.

No, this won't cause a problem.

Hey I’m dealing with this problem as well… I just bought a new battery 2 weeks ago and my marauder has been sitting and I tried to start it up today and the battery is dead….and what does tender mean?

Battery tender is a low amp charger that keeps the battery charged without overcharging.Battery Tender is also a brand.
