Hey Guys, tomorrow I am probably going to try to remove the flexplate off the rear of the engine.
Its a long story, but the transmission access rubber plug is stuck between the flexplate and the thin sheet metal divider that sits between block and the bell housing.
I am about ready to roll the transmission back in order to gain access to the flex plate bolts. I used the Marauder service manual instructions to prepare for pulling the transmission back, so I think I am good there.

The car is up on jack stands.

I would sure appreciate any insight/advice on things to be aware of as I go at this job.

Thanks

All that for a rubber plug. It would most likely not hurt anything. I would use extra blocking in addition to jack stands. A little extra safety while pushing and pulling the transmission around.

good input, thanks.
hey, I got the flex plate off, removed the mangled plug, cleaned up the flex plate ( some rubber from the plug adhered to it ),
got the transmission real close to the block, but not perfectly aligned in space yet.
The difficulty is going to be getting the studs from the torque converter aligned real close to perfect, then pushing the trans / torque converter forward so all 4 studs go through flex plate. I think I can rotate the torque converter from the bottom to get the studs in just the right position as I get close.

But getting the transmission perfectly lined up is difficult. I’m using a trans jack under the pan and a floor jack under the front of the bell housing

Does anyone have any tricks or tips on how to proceed? Thanks very much.
