Has Anyone Had The Chance To Drive Or Better Yet Race A New Chrysler 300? This Car Looks To Be More In Our (mm) Range; Price, Weight, Hp Etc. I Believe In Good Competition Isn't That What Keeps Us All Revved Up! No Doubt The New Cadillac Will Smoke Us Non S/c M/m's But Hey That Is A Completely Different Price Point. I Am Curious To See What Car And Driver And Road And Track Have To Say About The Chrysler They Certainly Showed Us (mm's) No Justice. Happy 4th Of July To Everyone!!!

There are a couple of threads on the 300C. Duhtroll also wrote a review on his test drive about a month or so back. Recommend that you do a search under "300C" or "Chrysler". Should be plenty info/discussion there to peruse regarding the specs and match-up with Marauders.

THANKS BLUERAUDER, KINDA WOKE UP EARLY THINKING ABOUT WHAT COMPETITION WAS CURRENTLY OUT THERE. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THE CHRYSLER HAD BEEN UNDER THE MICROSCOPE AND THOROUGHLY TAKEN APART FOR INSPECTION BY OUR TEAM HERE. YOU GUYS ARE ALWAYS ON TOP OF EVERYTHING PERTAINING TO OUR LOVE FOR OUR MARAUDERS. I JUST HAVE NOT BEEN AROUND FOR A WHILE AND HAD FORGOTTEN JUST HOW PASSIONATE EVERYONE HERE IS. i DID DO THE SEARCH AND AGREE THAT THE 300 IS NOT A VERY GOOD LOOKING CAR, AND I WILL BE LOOKING FOR THEM ON THE ROAD FOR A PUNCH OFF!

I saw a 300C for the first time on the street yesterday. I think the car looks pretty cool myself. Other than the interior being a touch on the plain side, I have no issues with the car. I could have bought one in place of the MM, however I would have needed to spend an extra 15-18k over my slightly used 300A. That wasn't worth it to me. Considering I paid less than 21k for a 2003 300A, I can spend a little money on a Trilogy kit and have much better performance while remaining much cheaper than the 300C. Just waiting on that CARB approval!

Ironically as I'm standing next to my MM in the driveway, the first 300C I see pulls up at the stop sign. He nails it, tires spinning and tears off up the street. It would have appeared the husband was out tearing up the neighborhood, as it came by later with what appeared to be Wife.com on board and he didn't even hit 1500rpm going up the street. :nono:

It looked pretty fast the first time out though, definately faster than a stock MM. Unless you've got some mods, I would not be facing up with 340HP, or more importantly the 390ft.lbs of torque. The exhaust didn't sound very good though, making some tinny hissing noises. You could tell it was a V8 though.

The car is much more advanced than a MM, however the MM has that sinister look that I like. Time will tell if it holds it value and is reliable. My only turn off is the MDS. I have no problems with the concept of cutting of cylinders for better economy, but can they make it reliable for 100k miles is another story. I will say if Ford had not updated the Panther platform in '03 with Rack-n-Pinion and a few other things, I would not have bought a MM. After driving my new to me MM for about 75 miles now, it's just leaps and bounds better than my old 99 CVPI.

Not so sure a 300C would smoke us. I've driven the Hemi in a Magnum RT. Seemed pretty close to me. They put a 2.83 rear gear in them to try to improve fuel economy. Wait 6 months and the DC cars will be everywhere. The MM will be relatively rare, especially where I live :D The salesman who sold me mine has been in the car business for many years. He felt the DTR MM will be a collectable in fairly short order due to build numbers. There really was no choice

I think it'll be interesting to see what the after market does for the 300C. With a few mods the car could be very fast.

I went and looked at a 300c before i decided with the 04 mm. I was at first impressed with the new design and muscle of the 300c model with the hemi. The thing that turned me off was when i looked at it up close, and sat in it, it didnt seem to be built that well. The car looks better to me from a distance. It didnt have that bad ass apeal that the mm has. I prefer merc/ford to chrysler, and i am glad i went with my 04 blk mm!...No regrets!..steve

wait until the charger comes out with a stroked out 5.7 to 6.1L. that is supposed to be a monster.

We had a discussion on the 300C and Magnum and that MDS system that kicks out 4 cylinders at highway speeds for mileage.

Just saw this on the Magnum/300C board --

Maybe it doesn't work as well as they say it does? This is obviously preliminary and just a few owners, but perhaps this particular advantage over the MM is not so iron-clad.

I know, mileage, schmileage. I just found this thread very interesting. Many of us are getting the same MPG reported on the Chrysler/Dodge board. It's a small point in the overall scheme of things but just one more reason to love the MM!

Nothing surprising there. If you look at the aerodynamic loss curves it's clear it takes a heck of a lot more power to maintain 80 mph cruising than 60 mph, and the vehicle's coefficient of drag determines how much of a difference. Chrysler stylists really shot themselves in the foot with that brick wall front end. So I can understand how silly the concept is of a 4 cylinder engine pushing along a behemoth like this at 80 mph trying to be economical.

Don't get me wrong, I love my MM, but I just hope this kind of technology continues to progress. I'd like to be able to see future big RWD cars pull 350 hp out of their V8s and provide good acceleration without having to resort to patchwork like high stall converters and aggressive rear gears... only to find themselves saddled with dumb tranny shift points to address mileage concerns. :(

MM is somewhat faster. passed it at about 70mph. At 110mph it was in my rear veiw mirror. We stayed even 0-70

That's what I was saying a while back. Even just based on the EPA estimates for the 300C compared to EPA estimates for the Marauder, there isn't much difference. This is surprising considering all the crowing about efficiency of DoD/MDS.
Makes one wonder just what the 300Cs mpg would be without it.
