Marauders earned their Flags with the Pikes Peak runs and on the Nascar tracks of the day. These were more of a stock car than the so-called stock cars of today.

there were so many FORD 427 motors. Did any of the MM have the 427 SOHC? What was the 427 "side oiler" ? A friend of mine has Shelby GT 500 CONVertable, this car has a 427 that was dealer installed before delivery to the original owner, this was an option in 1967. the motor doesn't look anything special like the other 427 mills. Where they the same blocks architecture or just common #'s?

a side oiler has external oil cooling tubes. you can't miss it.

I think that there is a real possibility that these cars raced at Indianapolis Raceway Park where Marauderville II is going to run the drag strip. There is also a road course at that facility. I am pretty sure that the USAC stock car series used that track in the sixties. I have been looking around on-line and haven't found anything to document this but I will keep trying.

No, no Marauder had the SOHC unless the owner had one to install from FoMoCo later on.
Here's more on the SOHC--http://phystutor.tripod.com/stang/engines/427sohc.html

The side oiler blocks sent oil to the crank first then to the cam, will have cross bolted mains, screw in freeze plugs.

Here's more on the FE and other FoMoCo engines--http://www.hosac.freeserve.co.uk/Ford%20Family%20Tree.htm

Interesting, I'll see if I can find anything on this.
