finally got bored and put my t-stat from DR in. After getting everything bolted back up, and re-filled the reservoir, started the car. Had the bubbles in the line water pump noises as expected (over 5 seconds, little 1 seccond burps/squeeks from the pump).
Seemed fine after that. got in the car, let it idle for a few minutes, and watched the temp guage climb past halfway... knew something wasnt right. Checking on everything it all looks fine.
Did notice the top 2 lines at the t-stat were hot, and the bottom one was slightly warm. It seems like the t-stat isnt opening? How often are t-stats bad out of the box? It looked fine on pre-install inspection.

Can't say how often they're bad out of the box, but definitely let Dennis know. He'll take care of you.

Do not refill from the reservoir. Refill from the plug in the crossover tube for the radiator hose.

, and re-filled the reservoir .You have air trapped in the system, refill from crossover metal pipe, remove cap with ratchet 1/4 inch drive, that is your highest point, fill from there, you should be ok.

I just learned that trick a few days ago....when it got warm, I took a 1/4 extention and socket wrench, loosened that plug on ther crossover tube just enough to hear all that air woosh out. Let it cool, and topped it off in the same spot...walla, all good!

hehe, exact problem. Opened it up, heard the air come out, and dumped quite a bit of coolant in. Fired her up, and she stayed cool, drove her around for 10 minutes, and she is great!
thanks for the help everyone.

Check it when cold for the next few days,I always seem to be able to add another 1/2 gal or so,you'll know you got it done when very little air is released.
