Well, I must admit that silver does look better than I thought it would, but silver doesn't do much for the "sorry, officer" thingy, perhaps only make that factor worse. Believe it or not, black is the least used color by law enforcement agencies. Black is used most by the funeral and livery trade.

I did hear a rumor that silver was for Canadian release only, but I haven't been able to confirm that just yet.

I'll be damned...

My one regret at buying mine in Sept. was that I REALLY wanted silver :depress: ...now that I see the pix, I'm glad I got the black...it looks too much like your basic airport livery car/limo in silver...

Thanks DavidB...I feel much better now... :beatnik:

Puts me in mind of that Rolling Stone song "Paint it Black" ;)

Yep, it's nice but it ain't the same car, let the MB.BMW and Jap stuff have the look.

There's no truth to silver being a canadian color. Mercury's plan from the get go has been to release a color every 5-6 months. Silver will be orderable at the beginning of May 03.

I wonder why they bothered to black out the headlights if the car isn't black?

I'm surprised, the silver one looks a lot nicer than I thought it would. I'm impressed with it.

Looks OK, but side windows and back window have to be tinted and a red stripe on the body mldg. and red in the rear bumper letters would make it look better.

Not bad.....but even if I were in a HOT climate I'd still choose the black. I'm still waiting to see that graphite interior though.

I have to admit, I am a silver guy. However I agree with the others it is not as sexy as black. Black is a pain in the ass, however it looks sexy. I went by my old squadron to pick-up a helmet cover and saw some of the boys who lined up to see my car. Most were engine mech's and asked the type of questions only Logan could answer. I just said it is black and fast.

They were black at one time, probably pre-October cars. I had the good fortune to see two in the shop being prepped for the Auto Show circuit. I think they look like they got a tinted clearcoat, which makes the color look more like white gold pearl than silver. They are even more stealthy in Silver, but unquestionably more Lone Ranger than Zorro!

The piece of carpet attached to the side of the console appears to be a different shade than the floor carpet......

The silver looks great. I love the black but right about now I wouldnt mind having a different color just cuz!

You cant go wrong unless you get that s h i t t y blue! (sorry but that's how I feel about the blue.) The Toreador Red and Silver are both kickazz colorz....black 2 of course.

Well, Silver is the color I wanted, and it looks good for me. I appreciate that Black has advantages, but I'm too old to keep it clean. But the car sure needs red accents (badges/rear bumper lettering/brakes/whatever). Can't wait for May.

Well ... at last a real photo of the silver MM !!

I think it looks great . No... I know it looks great !

Living in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot , this color really makes sense. Now , I just have to convince the bride that the SHO is going and the MM is coming , as she drives my SHO every chance she gets and stiffs me with the Explorer .
Does anybody know if a 4.10 cog set will be an available option for 04 ?

Silver is the mild manner reporter at the Globe, until he is called upon and goes into the phone booth to change and comes out in all Black with a big "M" on his chest. :fire: That's the difference a color makes.

I love sliver, but for some reason it does thrill me on a Marauder? Maybe it’s just the picture, I'll have to check it out at the dealer when the color becomes available. But thanks for the picture.

seabreeze, did you actually see them come in as Black? An line worker form St Thomas reported on BON that they had prepared a few "primer only" Marauders that were to go to a shop in preparation for the auto show.

Silver is for me..refreshing change of pace. My last six cars were black!

Well, I'm girating back and forth (again -- yet). Thought I wanted the Silver, but everytime I picture it with the badges, wheels, etc., I find I go back to the Black one as better looking; especially when you picture the red accents that have been shown via photoshop. God, I can't make up my mind!! I swore I'd never own a Black car again after the last one. Then my wife reminds me that I'm now retired with plenty of time to keep it clean. Am I missing a really good point here? "Hey, honey. I'm going out to the garage to clean up the Marauder." Which means I don't have to listen to her latest thoughts on my shortcomings. And I could get a TV set so I could watch Football/Basketball/Soccer. Well, what do you know! Black has some distinct advantages. Anyone know where I can get one here in California for around $29,000?

What influence? How does that chant go? --something-- black -- something -- black. See, I've already got the main point down. And I'll remember that none of you guys influenced me at all.

RC Signals:

They prepped 'em right before my eyes. Walked by them all week as they waited in the queue to be done, they were black and beautiful. Still had the cardboard protectors on the pipes. They went into the paint shop and came out two days later finish-sanded down to the primer with bumper fascias and lamps removed. The following week, they were silver and clearcoated, with either re-painted or new bumper fascias looking great. I didn't take down the VINs, so I am not ABSOLUTELY sure that is what happened, but that is the way it appeared.

seabreeze,

That's interesting. I wonder what they did with the primer only ones?

sounds like the corporate shuffle to me.

My guess regarding the St. Thomas scuttlebutt on primer cars, is that they were shipped to CA to support their Auto show, while the ones I witnessed being prepped were very obviously being prepared for the Detroit show. The timing supports this theory, as the California show kicked off the season a week or two ahead of Detroit. A big placard in the window stating "Hands Off! - Auto Show Vehicle" and every other L-M, Ford, Volvo and Mazda product being prepped at the same time with the same placard are what drew me to this conclusion as they sat in the audit area.

Hmm... I wonder what paint color would match the Ruby Red Reflective inserts? I think I'm gunna paint my calipers this spring... Any ideas?

By spring, you should be considering new calipers, Baer comes in red....
