The dyno pull done on April 24, 2004, after install of 4:10 gears, underdrive pulleys, 180 degree stat, cooler Motorcraft plugs, K&N air filter, Royal Purple oil, SCT chip tune by Aric of Injection Engineering = Max power 262.8 SAE HP, Max Torque 284.2 SAE ft-lbs.

The dyno pull today, after install of SVO Shorty headers, Magnaflow high flow cats and Xpipe, Magnaflow 18" Mufflers, Stallion TC, and tune tweaked by Aric of Injection Engineering = Max power 280.6 SAE HP, Max Torque 292.7 SAE ft-lbs.

Next week goes in the Meziere water pump, which showed about a 10 HP gain for Marauderchick. I expect with the pump and the Metco air induction (even though they don't claim HP gains), that I will be in the mid 290 range at my next dyno pull and retune by Aric.

Sweet! I assume you'll dyno again and let us know the exact total after you get those parts on?

Did you do a baseline run before any modifications? If so, please post those results also.

Thanks

I spent $6500.00 on 1 mod and picked up 150 HORSES :P

Maybe I spent a little more but I got a lot more! :burnout: :banana2:

There was not a baseline run prior to any modifications. However, there was a run before installation of the chip and tune done on April 24, 2004. This run showed Max Power of 241.7 SAE HP and Max Torque of 262.5 SAE ft-lbs.

An increase of nearly 39 SAE HP and 30 SAE ft-lbs. I'm pleased.

Donny's is also much safer to drive and I bet will last longer before something blows, too.

Let's not even start this.

To each their own. Why make this a contest?

What makes you think his car is any safer than mine to drive.
Maybe cuz mine is faster?
To each his own is right. He gave his mods and I gave mine.
No one said it was a contest. Just a comparison.
I guess the truth hurts some people!

So I reckon you're the one that was tying up the dyno. (haha) So I've gotta get my re-tune done in a couple of weeks. I had the Pro-M MAF installed but still have some touch-up work to do on the carbon fiber airbox so I took it back off for the time being. Still haven't even started on the top cover either. See what I mean at breakfast next week. I should be ok to run the Pro-M without a re-tune but might get more power from it with a fine-tune. And I'm getting some of that shifting stuff taken care of while I'm at it. Oh, well... I guess I could go see Buster about getting my bigger cats installed in the meantime.

I guess the truth hurts some people!$6500 would buy the kit, but not the install, and since I do not turn a wrench there would be another $1500 at least in install costs.

If you add up my mods, they amount to less than $6500, even with install labor included. And they were done in stages, stretched over months.

If I had $8500 to spend on a supercharger back when I decided to mod my car, I may have opted for that. I just took a different path is all.

There also is something to say of the enjoyment of going off to Team Ford every few weeks to meet the Atlanta Marauder owners, see what they have done to their cars, then do likewise. And meet and get to know the techs at Team. This would not have been nearly as much fun had I just dropped off my car once, then picked it up when the SC was installed.

I'm going to keep right on modding my car in stages, too. The journey is a big part of the fun of this hobby, reaching a destination in the quickest, most efficient manner is not a consideration for me.

Nice post Donny...

My $ on your car for the long-haul anyway...'cause you've got the BEST collection of talent at your disposal to handle ANYTHING you need done/improved/fixed on your car...just a short jaunt away.

We'll see in 200K miles about the "truth."

Every mod is a risk, and the S/C shortens the life of the major components. The only thing that can prove me wrong is time, (and it won't) and somehow I doubt this will be a conversation in a few years. Your costs are not just $6500, even if that's all you spent up until now. S/C cars will have higher maintenance than the N/A cars, and lower mileage. They will have to fund repairs that others will have fixed under warranty.

Because people choose not to S/C their cars they are now being told they aren't making the right choices? Gimme a break.

"I spent more money than you so mine's better." :shake:

If that's true, you should have bought another car. Seems that speed is too important to you and there are lots of ther cars out there going faster.

Thats fine, to each his own. This is the community discussions forum and you expressed your way of making horsepower and I expressed mine. I am not trying to disrespect you or your car, just giving my opinion like you did. And by the way, $6500.00 did buy me the s/c and the install. This was before the price increase, as I was one of the first to have the install done. JEEZ:rolleyes: :shake:

No problem. We share a common passion for a great car:up:

I don't mind discussing differences of opinion, because if everybody agreed on everything, this would be one BORING web site.

Not that I'm trying to defend number #5... cuz we all know that he can sometimes be a "Menace" :P But I believe he scored his S/C for $5k... so $6.5 with install would be about right. Personally, I put a couple grand into my car before the S/C install and I've put close to as much into it since.

Anywho, sticking with the thread... It's always good to see some real world numbers for exhaust mods. I'm quite jealous actually... Every day I think about how much crap I would have to sell on E-bay to buy the same exhaust upgrade! Anyone want to buy a motorcycle (or two)?

:stupid: :stupid: You need to read better. No one said anyone wasn't making the right choice or I spent more $ than you so mine's better. Also a car with all those mods is just as likely to not get repaired under warranty as a car with a s/c.:shot:

You may lose your $ TAF. I have never raced my car and hardly ever beat on it. Also, I only put about 1700 miles a year on it. See me in 20 years when I have about 34000 miles on it you can pay me then. :P

Kinda like talking about who paid how much for their MM, or those who bought used or those who used inherited money to buy it so it didn't really cost them anything, blah, blah, blah and so on.

When I told a fellow member how much I paid for mine he was "upset" because he bought one of the first ones in our area at a premium. I then told him he didn't pay too much because he had gotten 8 months more of pure joy driving an MM and that is time you cannot buy. :)

Ya, I know what you mean. I paid full price for mine $36,500.00 back in May of 2002. Thats ok though because I finished paying it off last year. :P
