A contingent of Marauder hardcore fell upon the Fun Ford Weekend at Norwalk this past weekend. The Marauders had a very strong showing and I was proud to be there. We'll get another thread going soon with pics and film of the event and our escapades.

Anyway, the weather was dry, but it was quite warm and very humid. Expectations were modest given the weather. Saturday we all entered True Street and took our 20 mile tour around 2:30pm and then waited in the holding lot for a while. At 5 or so, we were called to the staging lanes. It was pretty hot and we had to keep our hoods down. But, somepeople (not me) had something to combat the heat! More details later.

On my two passes of the day I set consecutive personal bests with a 13.289 @ 103.71 and a 13.150 @ 104.09. Not bad at all for the hot weather conditions, but not the 12 second time I was really hoping for. My previous best was a 13.3 with a hideous 2.2 60 ft at Milan in May. The only change I had made since was the widened factory rims and Drag Nittos that I had desperately needed the first time out.

Consider we were running in the mid to upper 80s compared to the 72 degree runs last May, I guess I couldn't complain. My 60fts were 1.911 and 1.814....so the tires were definitely doing their job!

Another of us also had a personal best during the day, while most were posting good times but were off from personal bests due to the heat. I'll let the others tell their own stories:D

Anyway, we had 2 passes Saturday, as was the layout for True Street. We pitted a while after our second pass then packed up and went out for a great meal together!

Jerry, Kanako, Dave, Barry, and I decided to return to the track on Sunday morning for a final run under the True Street Gallop for Gold. The others had to head home.

As I had hoped, the weather was a little bit cooler at perhaps 80 or so. We staged a bit late, but all went well. After a generous but not bodacious burnout, I managed my best run ever:

12.93 @ 105.92 !!! YES!!! :banana2:

I'm barely there....but a 12 is a 12:) With just slightly cooler fall type weather, I'm sure 12.75-12.8 would be doable.

But...I may never know that because my Kooks and custom exhuast and 4.10 gear are do to be intalled in the next 2 weeks.

Man...what a great weekend!

Congratulations Mike!!!! Good ET's!!!! What type of cars were you up against at an event like that? I've heard about those types of events, but I don't believe that all tracks have them. Were there any cars there getting into the 11's and 10's? What about ricers? Were they there too?

Congrats Mike - 12's should be easily repeatable in even hotter wx with the new setup! Good job!

It was very cool meeting you Mike, and seeing the others again as well. Also a big thanks to Jerry for feeding us on Saturday. Hope to see you at Alternative Auto the week after this....

I had a great time and stayed all day Sunday to bracket race in the late afternoon after you all went home. I am proud to say that I made it to round four with the last four cars and was ultimately eliminated by a proffesional driver that could hit the r/t's far better than I. That tree WAS a biatch to figure though...I think I need to stage "DEEP" and learn a new method. I hit my 13.61 dial in everytime, but my r/t of .791 was done in by a .630 on a .500 tree and I was sent home packing. However, it started to rain within 15 minutes and the last 4 guys split the pot.

I ran my personal best over the weekend as well, and as mentioned, had the humidity been lower, and the track temps....who knows...

Great job Mike! Just think, all this from a guy who said he was going to keep his Marauder stock except for the S/C. "I feel the need............... the need for speed!!!!!"

Thanks for the kudos!!

It was a fun and exciting weekend for sure. And it was also a great showing for the Marauders in general!

Congratulations Mike!!!! Good ET's!!!! What type of cars were you up against at an event like that? I've heard about those types of events, but I don't believe that all tracks have them. Were there any cars there getting into the 11's and 10's? What about ricers? Were they there too?

We were up against every type of Ford street car you can think of...but mostly mustangs. There were 2 8 second cars, 1 9 second car, and a handful of 10 and 11 sec cars! The only "ricers" to speak of were Focus guys...but they were cool. Fords only the whole weekend.

Great job Mike! Just think, all this from a guy who said he was going to keep his Marauder stock except for the S/C. "I feel the need............... the need for speed!!!!!"

Yeah, I know. The addiction is worse than I thought:coolman:
