Well, just two questions today!
I don't see my making any changes to the exhaust system, EXCEPT I think the mods delete tips (that's with pre-pro baffles?) would be a cool idea just to enhance the sound a bit.
One of the guys said he had this done at a welding shop, where in addition to removing the OEM tips they "lengthened the tail pipe a bit" and then added the new mods tips.
I was just going to remove the old & replace. Dumb question: can they just weld in a new section of pipe, and the purpose of this is to what, just get the new tips out the rear further? Has anyone else done this, and how much length did you add to the factory default?
2) Any recommendations on some good all weather aftermarket floormats? Something that can be easily cleaned with a hose and is preferably not real furry, etc., etc. Thinking about just the fronts right now, but if there is a set for the back I might do those as well.
Thanks!

Norm:
There are two Megs tips...one with the internal baffling, and one without...the purpose of the baffle is to reduce cabin drone at about 40-45 MPH...some people prefer the sound of the tips without baffles, so they had them replaced. As far as adding sections of pipe, that's only to make the tips stick out a little further...
You can have the tips any way you like: with or without baffles, and you can position them any way you like...any competent muffler shop should be able to handle it...

I don't have any tips for aftermarket floor mats, but you can buy Mercury's All Weather mats. They are black and have the Mercury logo on them. I bought a set from TheDealer (Ray SR. @ Northeast Lincoln Mercury) through the forums.
Here are the part numbers taken from my invoice:
1W3Z-5413086-EA - KIT MAT ASY-FR, $37.63
1W4Z-5413106-CA - KIT MAT ASY-RR, $24.62
These are direct fit, specifically made for the car. They look great and you can just hose 'em off as needed.

I picked up a couple of really nice all season mats at AutoZone. I can't remember the brand but they are black rubber with really deep grooves for grabbing the dirt and moisture.
there are two styles of "genuine megs tips" okay, but neither has any baffling at all. both are just resonators in two sizes and styles.
the original tip was a 3 inch diameter megaphone, 24 inches long, that hooked up to the 2 1/4 exhaust pipe. That size caused a hum, so mercury used another megaphone that extended the 2 1/4 exhaust pipe into the tip by 18 inches. this reduced the megaphone value from 24 inches to 6 inches, and moved the hum into the trunk. its still there, but you can't hear it because it's behind the back seat now.
the tips do not baffle, because baffling comes from stuff set up to block or obstruct the exhaust. baffling looks like muffler stuff, like cheese grating trhat works as a silencer.
i was really confused when I cut my tips off because they were open and straight thru, no baffles. thats when i figured out what mercury did. They changed the megaphone effect.
if you want louder, get a set of original "resonator delete" tips. they are full 24 inch by 3 inch diameter megaphones. when you install them, add a section of 2 1/4 inch diameter by 1 inch long pipe before the tip, and they will stick out more than the original tips. when you do, you'll see the megs script on the tip.

M-75 is right..."resonator" is the correct and preferred term...somehow "baffle" just sort of slipped into the vernacular and everyone who's been on the board for a while knows what is meant. I should know better as I usually strive to use correct terminology...
Judge to Curly Howard: "...and please drop the vernacular."
Curly: "That's a doiby!" (derby)...
