I have it from a very reliable source that Gunslinger, a member here, will be shipping out for the middle east very, very soon.
As some of you may know, Gunslinger is TAF's nephew, so I am sure that you will all want to join me in wishing him the best and thank him for watching our backs and faithfully serving our country!
Gunslinger, here are three cheers to you!
When you get back, dinner and drinks are on me, and you can even bring your Uncle Todd!
Be safe. We salute you. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Gunslinger, U-Da-Man!! Thankyou for serving your country. It's because of guys like you that we can enjoy such freedoms. If you don't mind me saying so (and even if you do) remember when you're in battle (and even when you're not) that Christ will never let you down if your trust is in him. ;)

Gunslinger,
Good luck, and come back in one piece. We are behind you 100%.
Let us know if you need anything when you get there that you can't get in the PX. IE Mag lite bulbs. (TR Stomps foot 3X)
If you can't get to a computer, have Todd post the address.
God Bless, and hurry home.

I just found this while reading some old letters my brother got from Mom while he was with Patton on his drive to meet the Russians in WW II. My Mom was an amateur writer--had a few things published--but this hit me hard--I'd like to share it:
An Ode To a Soldier
Back in the early forties is when it all began,
In Pascagoula, Mississippi
A mere boy became a man.
He's not ready for this venture-poor Mother Seitz did cry,
He's much too young and innocent
To go to war and die
But off went young Harold to the Army,
He became a full fledged G.I.
He was issued his dress uniform
And was quite a handsome guy.
Now when it comes to talent,
As a soldier he had "none".
He had trouble with his marching,
Nearly fainted when firing a gun.
But he made it through Basic Training
To the surprise of everyone.
And off he went to the combat zone
To get the war over and done.
So anxious was he to do his part
That he shot a dead man, right through the heart.
Now every story has a moral ending
And with Harold's story, it's quite true.
Fellow Americans, we're mighty darn lucky
We're still flying the RED, WHITE AND BLUE !
Love, Mom

Cruzer, great poem.
Gunslinger, from a zoomie (USAF) vet, all the best. Keep it covered at all times. You are part of a long line that has made this the best country to live in!
John
UPDATE:
After being delayed 1 week, Clay headed out this morning (8:30am Hawaii time) and is in route. I spoke with him this morning, he wanted to send a special thanks to everyone here for your thoughts and best wishes and a "thank you" as well, to those who gave him ideas on storage of his Marauder for the next 8 months.
I love him, I'm proud of him...and I told him to go "kick a$$ and take names...no matter how many consonants are in them"

Actually, we don't need no stinkin' names ....
Understand exactly how you feel ... proud, emotional, and concerned ... all at the same time. Just got word that my son will be home in early September for his mid-tour R&R. Looking forward to some quality time and downing some beers and hotdogs at the ballpark. I will be flying the Blue Star Banner until he is back safe and sound. Best wishes to Clay/Gunslinger. Keep in touch with him by cards, letters and packages. It really means alot to the troops over there. :bows:
PM I just received from Clay (Gunslinger)
wanted to let you know we got here ok. More to come when I have more time. Talk to you soon
