Can the rims be polished or will this damage the finish and remove the clear coat?

The MM stock rims are polished then clearcoated from the factory...if you wanted to have them polished more? the original clearcoat would have to be removed. Without clearcoat you have to repolish your rims with WENOL,or some type of metal polish regularly. PITA

I haven't touched mine yet with any type of polishing paste, cream or anything.....
Any suggestions?
Just a towel?
I used Mothers polish on my SHO wheels and it works great.
Not sure what to do on the MM...

I use the same Zaino products that I use on the paint since both the rims and paint have clearcoat.

DO NOT use any products with abrasives on the wheels. :nono: The will damage the clearcoat. IMO.

Can the rims be polished or will this damage the finish and remove the clear coat? I'm sure if it's the right thing too , but I use Simple Green 20% and 80 % water mix with a soft brush, clean them & Then Meg. NXT Gen Liquid wax afterward and they come out great!

oops! i've been using 'Never Dull'
oops! i've been using 'Never Dull'
Nothing wrong with Never Dull...just be sure to wipe it REAL good after, to get the "film" off...it just attracts more dirt.

It sounds like you may be confusing "polish" with "buff".
Buffing the wheels .. ie: rubbing them vigorously with a rag to get the gunk off is fine.. just treat the face of the wheel the same way you would your hood.
Polishing the wheels ..ie: using a very fine abrasive to smooth the surface and make the metal shiny will remove the clearcoat. That's going to make cleaning the wheels a pain in the butt. They may possibly be brighter with this type of treatment than just cleaning the clearcoat.. but I'm willing to be you'd have a hard time noticing from more than 10 feet away.. the contrast between the wheels and the rest of the car is so sharp that being a little bit shiny-er will almost be lost .
