Does anybody know Shankin's phone number at his store? I'm working with a performance shop that has the John Beam machine, but they're still trying to figure out the MM front end. I'm hoping SHANKIN could help them out.
If you would send me a PM or and e-mail please. :-)

Appreciative,

Oops, I misread that as a "Jim Beam" alignment and was curious. I prefer Jack.

This whole alignment thing has me scared, confused, and frustrated all at the same time. How can a car manufacture make a car with there being such a big hassle for finding the proper alignment for it? I used to perform front end alignments, and as far as I'm concerned, this ought to be a cut & dried procedure w/out all this guess work, and w/specs from the manufacture that are accurate, and that really work. How can anyone stick up for Ford when they see things like this?

Between this issue of what the proper specs are for an alignment, and the issue of the mags being scratched up during the alignment process if you don't find a place w/a specific brand of alignment machine, I'm about to just throw in the towel and say forget it and drive my car w/all the shakes I'm getting past 70 MPH until the thing dies, cuz I have no idea as to where to bring it to. It's bad enough having to worry and get all nervous over things like getting your car painted, engine work, or transmission work and the like, but having it be such a project simply to find and trust a place to perform something as simple as an alignment is just crazy!!! :mad2:

I agree Billy...and I think a LOT of it had to do with the redesign in '03 of the Panther frontends. Heck...I just saw someone's car the other day from another area, who had it in Atlanta...up on a lift...they'd had Eibach Springs put in MONTHS ago...and were told they had been aligned afterward...

And the "clips" were still over the camber bolts which would have needed to be removed to adjust camber after the spring install!!!!!!

Makes us all feel blessed to have Shankin down here. Who BTW...he doesn't need no stinkin Hunter Machine to align your car perfectly. Just ask about 30 Marauder owners that have had his "touch" on their cars.

Todd, I really appreciate all the great info you've offered for things like this, but the mere thought of someone like myself who's from the Northeast, having to drive all the way to Atlanta to get something as simple as a proper front end alignment is simply insane. I mean I'd likely be spending three times the money on gasoline that the actual alignment itself would cost!!! And that's not to mention the cost of a hotel room too. Sure it would be great for me to finally get to meet you face to face, but it's simply rediculous having to spend so much time money and effort merely to get an alignment done properly. Thankyou so much Ford. :shake:

Out where I live I was pointed at a guy who does alignments for all the local BMW, Mercedes, etc, dealers. Many of those cars have aftermarket wheels that dont lend themselves to an easy alignment. He did not have any hesitation with specs for the front end, etc. It took him under an hour to do an alignment and the result is a straight, smooth ride.

Perhaps you could find someone similar in your area.
