Had my spoiler installed today at Jack Demmar mercury. When I got home found that the spoiler is mounted far right. There is about an 1/4 inch on one side and none on the other. I will be their 7:30 A.M. to raise #$@%. This car is a week old, and only has 400 miles on the ticker. I don't know if it can be fixed, because holes are drilled. Something has to be done!

If they can't, tell them you want a new deck lid and you don't want that one eyed guy touchin it again!! :bigcry:

Can't tell much by the pics...as they're the same size as the links.

Give 'em heck......no reason for what they did.

Oh man...can I relate to your problem.:mad2:

Hopefully it can be tweaked. I want to meet the cross eyed Tech myself. Have a few words for him :argue: . Has anyone had to fix a spoiler like this?

It needs more than tweaking.

Problem/difficulty lies in the 3M double-sticky-backed tape.

Even heated up, it is a chore to get off. You also need to be extremely careful not to scratch the trunk or spoiler.

Once spoiler is off, the 3M tape needs to be completely cleaned off. Then have new 3M tape applied.

Holes can be drilled a tiny bit bigger and then the spoiler can be adjusted.

Your bigget problem is trusting the idiots that did this in the first place.

Good luck...

I put my Spoiler on myself and you could widen the bolt holes to allow a slight shift of the spoiler; BUT the spoiler has a self stick adhesive strip around its full perimeter so you would have to pull this off and put a new adhesive strip around the full perimeter. I'm sure that they will attempt to REUSE the original adhesive strip if you don't watch them like a hawk...I also took the extra precaution of putting a little 'ring' of body sealant putty around my bolt holes on the exterior of the trunk. ( The installation kit comes with sealant washers for the holes and they fit on the inside of the trunk)

Thanks Joe. I hope it is that simple to just shift over. However, I figured the strips will have to be replaced. Cross you finger for me, or rather HIM.

^^^what Directedby and Joe Walsh said^^^

I've installed 3 of these things and they are exactly right about the weather-strip tape...tell the dealer you want NEW tape AND it has to be 3M ONLY. The exterior deck lid holes are far enough inside the perimeter of the spoiler that they can be elongated without a problem; the issue will be with the access holes inside the deck lid. Once they're enlarged, the nice plastic "hole covers" won't fit anymore...

...and NO, I don't know the above from personal experience :P ...

Thanks RF. Its in the shop now. Will make sure the strips are replaced with 3m. He tried to tell me that the spoiler has play in it. They gave me a car, but I am going back up there to wait.
