That's is the type of hype that creates the demand for cars. Remember Bullitt, Smokey and the Bandit and others have created demand for cool looking cars. Obisously not all cars in all movies create demand, just the cool ones. I think what is a great idea BMW is doing is the short films on http://www.bmwfilms.com. Talk about a great marketing idea. Creates a lot of hype around the cars.

They had 3 glamour shots as well, the sideways skid showing off the tires was the best shot.

I knew this would turn up here! It even sounded like the real car!

Great reporting.

Actually, the SS has been in several TV shows not to mention a few movies. The Impala's largest role was on moster garage where it was converted to the a Zamboni!! Here are a few links to info about them.

Season 2: Episode 12 - "The Getaway" is the episode that was on last night. Let's try to catch it when it comes back in a rerun, then tape it.

You're abosolutely right cyled. Chargers were in demand with The Dukes of Hazard and now Barracuda convertibles are real pricey since the Nash Bridges show. I was out at Carlisle for the All Chrysler Nationals last summer and they had four 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertibles on dispalay and they were all supposed to be worth $500,000 and up each!! Before Nash Bridges they could be had for about $100,000.

Let's just hope that the Marauder can become a regular on some show or get itself into a hit movie. :coolman:

I don't think those prices have much to do with the show because there were only nine Hemi 'Cuda convertibles built in 1971 - six autos and three manuals. If any of those cars were factory originals, $500K sounds like a reasonable amount for a rarity like that. If they were clones, then I think someone was a little optimistic with their asking price. In fact, as I'm sure you know, none of the Nash Bridges cars were original Hemi cars. Whoever built them sure did a nice job, they were all beautiful.

Ole Don Johnson and his clones, remember the Ferrari Daytona, and the Testarossa from Miami Vice? Both clones.

I saw the episode with the Marauder. But was surprised Ford wasn't on the ball enough to have a Marauder commercial air during the episode as well

what was up with the GMC SUV catching up to the Marauder and hitting the rearend of it, ya right!

There's the "Make room for Marauder" ad they ran on Speed channel for a while. That's the only one I've seen.

I just uploaded some stills of the Marauder in the show to the Gallery. Assuming I did it correctly

Ray,

I still have the whole Alias episode stored on my Dish PVR (like Tivo).

What should we do?

Can anybody do that "streaming video" stuff I keep hearing about?

Mark McQuaide

If you had a digital video camera, you could take a video of the intro playing on the TV. I could upload from the DV tape to my PC.

Is this like the opening theme? When's this show come on?

Don,
I have the Dish PVR also. I have no idea how to get anything copied from it.

You would need to run a video out to a camcorder (unless you have RCA's on the computer, then run directly to it). Record this to the camera, then replay it, while uploading with a firewire to the computer.

Donald

Ray,

Use the coax out from the PVR and connect to the coax input of the VCR. Set the VCR to record chan 3 or 4 depending on what you have the switch on the PVR set to.

I've got the clip! As soon as Logan gets back with me on how he wants to put it up on the site, you all can DL it. This was my first time watching it, and I've gotta say it was bad azz! Only thing I didn't like was that they cheap shotted her from behind!

NOTE:

at least TWO different California license plates have been sighted on the Marauder - so this leads us to believe they used at least two different Marauders for this scene. Its possible the GMC SUV damaged the rear end of the first marauder and they had to use another one to finish the shot, so they wouldn't show a damaged marauder.

I'm guessing ABC is advertising for both Ford Motor Company and GM - they constantly use Town Cars, Crown Vics, etc... as well as GM trucks.

IIRC one of the past episodes featured a 2003 Town Car driven by Jack Bristow. Either a 2003 Town Car or a 2003 Grand Marquis - I forget which.

I used a HP Media Center Edition PC + Windows Media Player to take the screenshots. I'm sorry its so fuzzy but I used the best digital video recording format (4GB/hour).

Woops looks like RCSignals took my pics and uploaded them to the gallery.

Oh well, anyhow for those just tuning in - you can get the pics from the Photo Gallery also! I posted these pics the day after the episode aired on CrownVic.net

I've already uploaded it to Logan. So as soon as he puts it up, you all can download it. If I remember right, it's about 1:52 long clip. About 40-50min download to us dial up guys.

Actually, as you watch the video, I don't think the GMC actually hit the Marauder. a little hollywood magic makes it appear so.

metroplex
01-17-2003, 05:37 AM
I have the full episode on my computer.

Yes its hollywood magic, but they used 2 marauders. Two different california license plates.

Check out my pics. When she first drives out from the theater, its 4YJV109.

When she enters the CIA escape truck, its 4YJU858.

At least the Marauder is being driven by a hot chick. Very good publicity might I add.

They always like to use Panthers in that show, for the Bristow cars that is. Jack usually drives a Town Car I think. Haldeki had a Town Car also (before Jack shot him in the head with a Glock).

I've been dying to see the clip. WOW!! The stills don't do it justice, though thanks for posting them. I had never seen Alias before, tuning in just after Donald's post. Got hooked in no time.

Ya, quick download on my Broadband connection.

Have yet to see another one on the road, but one day I passed 3 road details and 5 cops gave the car a 180 look!

I started watching Alias over the summer - its like designed for ppl w/ ADD. There's so much action in each episode so you don't get bored.
