Thinking of buying this kit. What's the difference in the nature of the MM after the kit ( plugs, 180 stat, 410 gears, chip flash module) is installed. Does the car respond and shift better? Does it still bog down into OD at the oddest time. I just want the car to run and feel like a normal shifting car. It's a great car, I just want it to be better. Not into dragstrips so a supercharger is probabaly not in the future. Also considering the rear sway bar he has.

What say you?

Don't have gears, Dennis flashed my PCM about a year ago and the difference is amazing, the car shifts hard when I kick it and smooth when I am easy on throttle, burns rubber from dead start always, and on the 1-2 manual shift. I am very pleased.:coolman:

Rep,

The car's improved shifting behavior after the tune will knock your socks off. The cooler plugs and stat are highly recommended to get the most from DR's tune. The solid rear anti-sway bar is definately worth the money.

Although a squirt of freed-up horsepower comes with it the tune, the 4.10 gears are a must for heavy cars with high rpm powerband engines to get off the line respectfully. It'll cost you a couple mpg due to the 300 rpm increase at highway speed. Other than that, its all good.

If a s/c isn't in your plan, then IMO this is where to start. I just wouldn't assume that a s/c wouldn't be appropriate for a daily driver. If I only new then... :D

bucky: It's a sort of "unwritten policy" here that we don't discuss costs in public. This is to protect us as well as not create issues for the vendors. Best to contact them directly...

I've had the "kit" since 2500 miles, basically it makes the car respectable in town. I can remember it being a painful experience to wind it up from a dead stop in stock form. Ford has used 4:10's in stock applications ie Lightning since 1993 so don't let that be a hang up.

As far as mileage goes I get the exact same mileage from this as I did my two-wheel drive Ranger. 20-22 Hwy and 15-17 in town. Just a side note I get 18 mpg doing 90-95. I did go ahead and get the MMX driveshaft because I never wanted it to be an issue even though I have yet to go past 130 with the car yet (120 all the time, it comes quickly!) If you mod your car at all this should be the first thing. Before tint, car cover, speakers, exhaust, dvd player, etc. it is the best bang for the buck and Dennis R. is the man and will take care of you. If you have any other questions/concerns feel free to pm me.

The most common reaction to the stage 1 is, "Now this is how this car should have come from the factory."
