Just wanted to publicly thank JD (HwyCruiser) for making me a really nice mount for my G-Timer.
I didn't want to put it on the dash as I put my new GPS there.
Anyway...thanks again JD. I'll send you a check to cover shipping and extras if you want!!!
Mounting the GTimer bracket to the dash bracket and painting it black...

I cannot figure out what the mail-slot shaped piece about your radio is for. Please explain.
Thanks,
Dan

The previous owner had it installed.
Its a single in dash Alpine unit with a slot/storage area for the CD crystal case.
Put the CD in the player...and then you'll have a place to put the CD case.
Unfortunately I keep my 400 CD's in a folder without any type of hard plastic case....I throw it out when I buy a CD. Such a spacesaver.

Nice work Hwycruiser! I've never been good with sheetmetal. I lack the patience. :fire:
Hey FiveO,... how do ya like that new Garmin? I have the old SP3. It's ok, but that new one looks pretty sweet. :rasta:

I love it....but I only installed it yesterday.
Its voice activated and has a hard drive in it so no downloading new maps! The entire US is already on the unit!
Touch screen with a remote control also.
USB hookup when I need it to download updates.
Its replacing an old StreePilot...the monochrome style.
Couple years down the line I'll be going with a setup like Logan has...in dash CD/DVD/GPS style unit.

Voice activated? No maps? <gasp!>
sweet,.... I eventually would like to have a setup like Logan's too,... 2K is a bit more than I can handle right now.

Mark,
You're welcome.
I looks like it fits pretty good. Yours is gratis... the satisfaction of helping a fellow Minnesotan (I was born in Minneapolis) is more than enough.
If anyone else would like one, PM me for details.

I had a heck of a time just mounting the remote alert unit for my Valentine One. I don't know how I would ever be able to bring myself to put such a large unit on top of the dash.
Still, I bet it offers you a very nice set of features for your car. Isn't there anything available from Ford that will fit in the dash?
That is the one thing about the Marauder that I would change. It could use a lot more of the electonic niceties built in. It's a great car but falls short a bit in comparison to other luxo cars in this regard (in my opinion).
Best,
Dan
LOGAN,
Would you mind posting links to a few photos of the unit that you have installed in your car? (NOTE: If doing so would be too off topic then just PM them to me, please.)
Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
I've driven squad cars for years....radar, video cameras and red lights on the dash and surrounding areas.
A small GPS unit doesn't bother me at all...the one I had in my SHO was about the same size and even had an antennae sticking up.
That just goes to show how ones point of view can change based on their prior experiences.
My MM is my first "new" car, ever. In spite of the fact that I am the second owner I bought it with 6K miles on it so to me it is a new car. :)
I wouldn't be able to bring myself to a mod like that. Frank (Ultravorx) has a neat DVD player set up in his MM and he went to the 9's with his install. Even that, an in-dash unit, professionally installed, would be hard for me to take.
Best,
Dan

Is it a G Timer or is it a GPS unit? If it is a GPS unit, which one is it? I like the Garmin products and would love some real world feed back.

G Timer is just below the radio head unit.
Garmin 2620 GPS is on the top of the dash.
I love the Garmin products. I've been using a Street Pilot for 4 years now...going to put it in my squad car this week.
This new unit is great...I don't have to download any maps at all...and with its hard drive the entire US is already in the unit...right down to street level.
I haven't had a chance to play around with the extra goodies on it...but that'll come.

Best place for the Avic stuff is http://www.avic-n1.com Lots of info and pics there.
It hands down has beaten any other Nav system I've seen, including the Garmin (...and I LOVE the Garmin), aftermarket or otherwise. I paid about $1400 new for it on Ebay...

Amen.. it looks nice Five-O, but it's not for me.
The only electronic add ins in my car are an I-pod (40gig I-pod could hold your 400 cd collection.. all at once  ) and a VHF marine Radio.. they're both powered off cigarette lighter adapters and the radio antenae is on a magnetic base. (I shiver at the thought of drilling a 3/4" hole in the sheetmetal for it..)
The Ipod lives in a cup holder and the VHF is in my armrest.
Clean under that magnet base daily or you will be unhappy with what it does to your paint. In fact, after cleaing you might want to leave it tipped on its side while resting on a towel. (Assuming you garage your car)

I had a switch installed on the G Timer today along with an Autostart....the epitome of laziness...I won't even be driving it in the winter :D
The switch is really nice....hidden (for the most part) but easily accessible...and I don't have to stare at the bright blue GTimer when driving down the highway at night.

Dan I've started just storing the antenae inside the car.. i'll just stick it on the roof when I'm sitting in the parking lot at the marina and using it. This was after I pulled it off and saw the nice ring it had left in my roofs wax job. :mad2:
I don't garage my car (due to the unfortunate lack of a garage).
Edit: ok, i'll stop hijacking the thread now  sorry bud
