I guess I hallucinated that Team Ford replaced my axles under warrantee even though Ford Racing 4:10's were being installed at the same time.

Adrian, relax, that's not necessarily true. Sure Ford, or any other car manufacturer CAN void your warrantee for any mods you do, but it has been my experience that it's basically up to the dealership. The man behind the desk who sells you an extended service plan, or who writes your agreement is going to tell you "any mods and the deal is off." He has to, or someone with a 300 shot of nitrous on an 18 psi supercharged motor will be in for service after each blow up at the track. The manufacturer can also void your warrantee for the way you drive your car. The bottom line is they don't though. I've done some mods, and had an entire head assembly replaced. I told the service writer up front about it. If you have a good relationship with the dealer, you should be okay. If not, find one who will work with you. Here on this site, you should be able to find someone near you who is "mod friendly." Besides, this car is somewhat bulletproof, just look around.

This is why your relationship with your dealer is critical.
If your relationship with your dealer is non-existant and they only see you for
WARRANTY REPAIRS,
they will be very critical of what they can and can't do for you.

I've been at my dealership so many times, I could punch in and get paid for it.
Most of the service people know me.
All of the salespeople know me.
The owner even knows me.

You are giving these people $30k for your vehicle.
If you can't get to know them, why even bother buying anything from them ?

This goes for ALL MANUFACTURERS DEALERSHIPS, not just Ford, Lincoln, Mercury.

Yes, it came out that Toyota became number 2 , and Ford became number 3. But, what they didn't tell you is that the number they came up for sales for Toyota, was based on the Toyota brand and the other brands that Toyota owns. Now if you add Ford + Mercury + Lincoln + Mazda + Volvo + Land Rover + Aston Martin + Jaguar, you now have more sales than Toyota. Even Toyota admitted that their sales figures were combined nameplates, and Ford was strictly based on Ford; so Ford kicked their rice burning butts. I'm sorry you feel that way about Ford but, some others have different views and experiences. Some dealers play and some don't know what the word is. If it happen at a Ford dealer it could easily happen at another car brand dealer. Again, I'm sorry you are dissappointed with Ford Motor Company, and hope you find eventually find what you are looking for. Good Luck and happy hunting.

I agree w/every single reply you've receieved so far in this thread. The only thing I can add to that is the following......


Dealers DO have the leverage to perform warantee work in the way they see fit, and can pick and choose which warantee work they will perform, to a certain extent. The service manager of the dealer near me specifically came right out and told me face to face in person that he will honor the warantee on my Marauder despite the fact that I've modified it.


And some dealers I've heard about will actually void the entire warantee of the car simply if they find a chip plugged into the computer. While one dealer actually told me that they can get a chip for me if I want. So my point is, some dealers simply look down at hi-perf customers, while some cater to them, and they do have a certain degree of leverage in warantee matters. To say that they absolutely don't is inaccurate.

When you read things like what you've mentioned that say modifications of any kind will void the warantee of the entire vehicle in question, you have to realize thats simply written by a Ford Attorney and is worded in a way to cover their behinds should any litigation arise from a dispute between a customer, and a Ford dealer, or Ford itself. So the wording used will always be extreme to protect Ford and it's dealers to the full extent, should they need such protection during litigation.

But that doesn't neccessarily mean that those written words have to be applied, or are applied or enforced in every potential warantee claim situation as if though they're written in stone. The extreme, cut & dried type wording is merely used to make the Ford Attorney's job easier when, and if, a case goes to court. It makes his chances of winning the case for his client better. That's why that wording is put in place.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
