Ssub Woofer Sound?

I just performed the 3 -6 preset test for radio/speaker function. What does the sub woofer sound like when its working properly. I got music from all 4 speakers during test but when it got to sub woofer, there was a dull white noise sound. Is that normal or do I have the perverbial sub woofer problem.

Select a radio station that is playing a song with some bass content.
Do the test using the #3 and # 6 station buttons.
You should hear bass out of the subwoofer not white noise.
