View Full Version : Anyone running Alternative Automotive's chip?

I'm curious if anyone is running this chip. I was at Atco Sunday for test and tune. My best was a 15.1 at about 94 mph. It was in the mid 70's and pretty high humidity. I power braked to 2000 rpms and let the brake fly on the third yellow. My MM is bone stock. I'm still even using a Motorcraft air filter. Since budget is tight I'm torn between a complete Metco set of rear arms or chip and gears. Since I prefer a great handling car I'm leaning towards the arms but if anyone can tell me about their experience with this chip I might be swayed. :depress:

I think you are at the right place to get input on Lidio's chip! Several members have a basically stock car with chip and gears and they are happy. Folks have traveled from out of state to get chipped and tuned. You will love your transmission shift points as well as torque converter lockup and the genuine feel across the board.

I will be ordering Lidio's chip once my 410's are installed at Hansel Ford.
Lidio simply has the best chip and tune going based the input on MM net.
I trust the 'word' on this site to be the best around!

Dave,
You wont believe the difference. Mine has been refined literally dozens of times over the last year and a half since it was first chipped by Lidio. He takes his time, is a perfectionist, and will stick by his guns when the customer wants to be on the edge, he realizes that he knows best and wont endanger your car simply cause you want 5 more HP. People that know, know how good he is. My Mach 1 was mine for 4 hours when I was at Lids shop getting my chip installed! You will be pleased.

I spoke to Lidio today in reference to some other things :D and would agree that his customer service and dedication is superb.
Lidio's chip is the only way to go for Marauders....the only way.
A set of 4.10's and a chip from Lidio and you'll be seeing 14.5 if not a bit faster.

I have Lidio's chip and 410. I got it back in March. I love it. It really woke the car up. Everyone that has ridden in my car likes the way it reacts. Second really hits nice. Even traveling at 80 I can still still punch it and it drops down and moves. You cannot go wrong with it.

Which PCM do you have?
Do all 2004's have a port for the chip?
I bought mine new about 5 months ago.
Thanks,
David

I don't have anything from Lidio....yet :D
Gimme a few weeks.
Everything I've read, to include his entire website, along with everything on this site, and my conversation with him leads me to believe that his chip, along with other items you can purchase from him :D :D are of the best quality and the overall the best around.
I won't have anyone but Lidio touching my MM when it comes to tuning....and she's gonna need a big tuning in a few weeks  :banana2:

Another "thumbs up" for Lidio's chip and tune.
If you want some real performance results and seat of the pants improvement, get the Lidio chip and 4.10 gears. Add the control arms later.

You may also want to look into the tuner, which uploads the stock program and downloads the Lidio tune. Before bringing it in for warranty work you can put it back to stock.
W/ Tuner You don't have to remove the access port on the pcm and remove the insulating material on the circuit board. You just plug it in to the diagnostic port.
W/ Tuner and an optional cable Lidio maybe able to update/change the tune via the internet

I agree with sailsman the tuner is the way to go, I currently have Reinharts programs, Lidios program and the stock program in mine.

Dave,
Yes, the 2004s all have a port, It was reported on the forum some time ago by another vendor that there wasnt a port, but that info was incorrect and Lidio has done several, including half of the Motor City Marauders with 04s with no problems!

I've got a stock MM with the 3.55 rear gear and Lidio's chip answered every question I had about the car. There was a small HP increase but the primary thing I got was the torque converter lock-up delay to 62 MPH and better shifting. That dead spot you feel when you are at a steady 30 MPH and want to get to 60 is gone. It wakes the car up.
I don't want the 4.10 rear because I like the long legged cruising and I think that the fun of the extra acceleration would be diminished by the extra RPMs at 80 MPH.
If you are in Detroit you can drive mine.

Go with whoever's chip you want but get the chip and gears first, if you get the control arms without add HP its not going to really help you out. But if you concerned with handeling, get the adco front and rear sway bars aswell.
I will be ordering Lidio's chip once my 410's are installed at Hansel Ford.
Have the chip installed when you have the gears installed, because your speedo/odometer will be off. Plus you might save a little on labor for the install.

How did you get both programs on one tuner?
How many programs will the tuner hold?
Thanks,
David

The programmer holds 3 programs plus saves the stock program
