what would happen if I had a gear splitter from http://gearvendors.com/hrford4s.html ? Is it worth the bucks?

Okay, I'm game.

Thier site does not list the 4R70W or 4R75W transmission on the application guide. They do say that they make a kit for virtually any transmission, though.

My guess is no, and you are better off spending the $$ on a Stallion T/C, and other transmission upgrades, and installing a taller gear in the rear end. jmo

Off the top -

You'd need a custom driveshaft (to fit this unit behind the tranny), and would probably want to go with a much lower rear gear, like maybe 4.56 (or maybe even higher, numerically). As the tranny is controlled by the computer, a chip / program would also be in order...

Based on the price of $2,395 without install, or any of the above, I would personally pass. By the time it's all said and done, I bet the hit to the pocketbook would be in the same ballpark as a supercharger, and I think you'd be very hard pressed to get anywhere near the same performance gain.

JMHO...

I didn't mention the EEC problems you'll have with an auxiliary tranny, which will be a prob. I'm not sure a chip would work with this thing, either.

I called today and they said have the application BUT, they never put one it in a MM before. The unit is a 8 inch diameter and would go where the front yoke is. now the question is will it fit in the tunnel?------- think of this--- a hot car with a S/C (soon) and all the goods with this unit backing you up. I'm thinking this is going to make this MM fly.

Do you remember ever seeing one of these on a car at the track?

I have already investigated this in detail.
They have an application to fit the 4R70W Truck transmission.
You would have to invest some serious change and time to have your Trans converted to the 'Innards' of the truck trans to ever make it work.
Re-Gear your trans with some AOD gears and it will help.

This would be ideal for hauling large loads, more than the lowly 2,000lb MM is rated for. Would also be handy to have the low gearing for hauling butt and high gearing for highway cruising. I'm not too sure you'd want to switch between 8 ratios from a standing start in the 1/4. Every time you change gears, you're not applying power to the drive wheels. It is a slick unit though, basically the same technology gear/clutches in an automatic tranny.
