I had just posted how I didnt win anything in the raffle.........AND now my marauder is dead. Life just isnt fair...........can a brother get a break once in a while...damn....I knew with my luck 4 tickets wasnt going to be enough.
I left the house tonight and all was well, then after getting on the freeway, I went to get into the flow of traffic, and the car kind of bogged out, it never does that, then it wouldnt go anymore. The tack kind of just hung around 2000 rpm, and it would go down or go up. Luckily I was able to coast off the offramp. But then the car died, and I could smell either burnt oil or tranny fluid, what ever it was it was burnt.
So now that it had died, it wouldnt go out of park. I had to start the motor and before it stalled out I had to put it into neutral.
They flatbedded me home, and tomarrow morning I will have to put the computer back to stock, and then have it flatbedded to a dealer, not sure
which one.
do you guys know if I can take it to the local Ford Dealer, its an SVT dealer and I would prefer to have them work on it rather than towing it 50 miles to the merc dealer.

YES take it to the SVT dealer. I take mine to one for all routine maintenance and warranty work.

Hopefully, it is something minor. I use an SVT dealer here in the Atlanta area. Very good experience.

I dont know why, but for some reason, the MM took its deepest breath in is life and sucked the intake plug into the intake pipe. I guess at that point the computer must have shut everything down.
I was able to get it running today, its still shifting sort of weird. I am going to drop it off on wednesday.
I had that plug in there tight........its been there for a while. NO idea why the car took an extremely deep breath, but now everytime I ever hit the gas I am going to worry about that plug.
Im guessing that since the computer was freaking out maybe thats why there was the cooked oil smell. But I think the tranny still has issues.

Sorry to hear about your luck. Hope everything turns out ok.

Are you talking about something you put in place of a "deleted J-snorkle"?

Glad to hear this was a simple problem. With a leak after the MAF, the car will not run right at all. If you ever have to limp home with a major intake pipe leak, unplug the MAF sensor. Try to keep your foot out of it, so the computer will be able to use O2 feedback to keep your engine in check.

Intake plug?
Many of us have removed the J-shaped resonator from the intake tube and replaced it with a PVC pipe plug...there's no real reason other than cosmetic, although some have reported a slight increase in noise when going WOT...
MonsterD: Thanks for following up...this is a good reminder to us all to check the tightness of the hose clamp once in a while...maybe every oil change would be good...
*EDIT*: I just thought of something...increased restriction through the air filter could have caused the "deep-breathing" noted by Mr. D...this is ANOTHER good reason to change your air filter more often than the manual suggests...I change mine every 12-15,000 miles...

I posted this in another thread, the J shaped "resonator" also performs the function of providing added air if the engine calls for it. Try doing a computer reset. That may cure the problems you are having and save a trip to the dealership.

It sounds like he sucked the plug up into the intake, if that's possible?

No. I'm thinking it got sucked in and blocked the hose between the former location of the J snorkle and the throttlebody. I would also like to note that this type of failure has never occured with the peanut butter jar lid modification.;)

With the peanut butter left inside the edge for a good seal?

Last year we had a G.Marquis come in that had stalled while driving. Ends up a petal(?) from a Bradford pear about 1/4 inch in dia. had lodged itself in the mass airflow sensor. And if that is not obscure enough, we just had a lincoln LS in two weeks ago that injested a very small bird feather into the MAF and did the same thing. Talk about knock me over w/ a feather!

I too 'sucked' the j-tube mod plug into the intake once. It happened at Ennis on the track last year. Turns out the Texas heat, and the many WOTs I was doing was too much for the PVC end cap I was using (it had a couple wraps of tape on it) and the hose clamp couldn't hold it. I ended up removing the tape, tightening the hose clamp...and it has never come off since. And you folks know how often I WOT!;)
BTW: Those who have done this delete, know, but I'll pass it on....any airflow entering the intake BEHIND the MAF (which is what happened here), will immediately stall the engine, and it will not restart until this 'leak' is sealed.

Isn't that what air filters are for?
