Last week I had nothing beter to do, so I drovefrom New Hampshire to Jacksonville, Florida to have 4:10 gears put in by the Marauder guru Dennis Reinhart. Actually I was heading to the Keys for a few weeks. I left 6 degree weather in NH that morning. It took me 5 minutes to get out of my driveway. I put 700 miles on that day with only about 100 that was not in snow. I stoped about 50 miles from the NC border because the visability was so bad from snow. Mileage on my trip was 19.54, 22.5 and 21.5. This was at 70 - 80 most of the time. I pulled into Reinhart's garage at 8:30 & was out by noon with my new 4:10 rear. Dennis took me out to see some of the auto tallent nearby in his supercharged Mustang. ( you'll hear from my lawyer about whiplash you sob) Just kidding. My neck is better now. He has incredible expert help nearby to do almost anything. After hearing the details of his chip, there is NO OTHER place to get yours. The 4:10's made a nice improvement with only slight mileage change. The first tank after new gears was 17.27. What can I say....had to play. The next 2 tanks were 20.3 and 20.7. I was North of Tampa and went 300 miles in 4 hours getting this kind of mileage.I only had 1 chance with no traffic to kick on it. At 125 it was still in third. It was a pleasure doing business with Dennis, a real nice guy with some great Marauder goodies. Thank You

Mikeenh;

What kind of RPM change did it make?

Could you tell the car was higher RPM'S with the 4:10's?

The gears make about a 250 - 300 rpm change at 70 MPH. I'm now about 2500 rpm when on cruise at 70. I here a sound difference for several reasons, you may not. I also changed out the orginal tips for a set of pre-production tips, that changed the sound level, and it's now where I'm happy with it. I don't expect to make any other exhaust changes now. The second reason, is I'm hard of hearing and wear aids in both ears, so I picked up on the added sound right away. I can also hear wind noise from my XM antenna that my wife can't.

BUT......the fun quotient from the new gears really puts a grin on this 59 year old face. When hit hard, it'll put you back into the seat nicely. With the chip, altered shift points, the car is an entirely different performer.

Mikeenh: Did you opt not to have the driveshaft installed with the package for a certain reason, was there any vibrations at 125 mph ? :eek: I would be real skeptical at those speeds without the driveshaft conversion. But thats just me. Happy Motoring. :cool:

Gonzo,
I put a PI shaft in (Mensra gave the part #) before I left for Florida. I hit 142 in 3rd with my stock shaft and rear. It was smooth all the way. After reading all the concerns in other threads, I figured I better upgrade. The shaft was just over $200 from fordparts.com. At 125 with the lower rear it still was smooth, no vibration. For any of you that have not seen your MM on a lift, there is an exhaust crossover pipe very close to the driveshaft that should keep you from turning your car into a high jumper if it came off in front. Reinhart has a better shaft than the PI one.Had I seen it, I'd have bought his. It looks so good, it's a shame it's hidden under the car.
