I has some issues with gritty deposits in the airbox after driving in the rain so I came up with a couple of solutions. No problems now. First, I put a PreCharger (kind of a sock) around the conical filter to keep water out. Then I installed some PreFilter foam material at the inlet to the airbox area (the hole in the radiator support panel) to stop large debris from getting into the intake area at all. See the pics:

Part number for the foam in a 4 foot strip, I believe it's 7" wide, is 25-3900.

Part number for the sock to fit my Pro-M is 22-8038PK.

It looks really sharp. I assume the conical filter is not fix mounted to rock w/ the engine, since the Metco Intake Tube is solid vs the OEM rubber expansion joint?

I have rubber couplings which will allow enough flex for engine rocking. The "correct" Metco mounting will have flex at the MAF due to the rubber coupling.
